Casey Anthony trial: Potential-juror pool hits 16 on 10th day of jury selection

CLEARWATER — The 10th day of jury selection in the first-degree-murder case against Casey Anthony proved eventful Thursday, as the number of viable potential jurors reached 16 by day's end.

Chief Judge Belvin Perry, state prosecutors and Anthony's defense team will head into another day of jury selection this morning with 12 potential jurors and four alternates. Perry has said he intends to swear in a jury by 3 p.m. today.

The judge originally said he wanted 12 jurors plus eight alternates on the panel, but it's unclear how many alternates the judge will settle on.

When court resumes today, there will be 11 prospective jurors to question to fill up to four remaining spots on the panel.
