Casey Anthony: Are you happy with TV’s trial coverage?

How to watch the Casey Anthony trial?

Video streaming is your best bet if you don’t want to be at the mercy of commercial interruptions or chatty analysts. Many news organizations, including the Sentinel, are streaming the trial.

I prefer watching the trial on television. For TV coverage, Orlando viewers have various choices: Central Florida News 13, WOFL-Channel 35 and WFTV-Channel 9 (splitting the coverage with sister station WRDQ-Channel 27) are providing extensive trial coverage. WKMG-Channel 6 offers the full trial on digital channel 6.2, which is 463 on Bright House Networks and 220 on Comcast. All those stations and WESH-Channel 2 offered hours of Cindy Anthony’s testimony Tuesday.

This morning, the prosecution withdrew a request to enter Casey’s prior felony convictions.

Viewers across the nation must count on “In Session” earlier in the day and HLN in the afternoon, but I’ve heard from viewers who yearn for full coverage. The nighttime HLN shows, notably “Nancy Grace,” provide recaps and analysis of the day’s events. For quick recaps of the day before, look to NBC’s “Today” and ABC’s “Good Morning America” in the 7:30 a.m. half-hour.

On “Good Morning America” this morning, Ashleigh Banfield described it as “a gut-wrenching six hours on the stand” for Cindy Anthony. Banfield said it was “so ironic” to see defense attorney Jose Baez point out that client Casey Anthony is a liar “but it’s their strategy to somehow make amends for this bizarre behavior after the child disappeared.” Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in daughter Caylee’s death.

ABC’s Dan Abrams said he was surprised by Baez’s cross examination of Cindy Anthony. “I would have thought they would have been very gentle with Cindy Anthony,” Abrams said. Abrams said the defense should have been deferential and not suggest she was in it to make money.

On “Today” this morning, Linda Kenney Baden supplied analysis, and she is particularly interesting because she used to be part of Anthony’s defense team. Kenney Baden said “the she-didn’t-act-right evidence is really the problem in this case, but it doesn’t tell you whether the child died accidentally or intentionally, and that’s the problem the jury has.”

Also on “Today,” Savannah Guthrie noted that the 911 tapes on Tuesday were the jury’s first chance to hear Casey Anthony at length. “It comes across terribly,” Guthrie said. ”She sounds callous, she sounds angry. The jurors are looking at her and trying to size up: Is this is a woman capable of killing her own daughter?” But Guthrie said it’s still early in a trial expected to last six to eight weeks.

Are you happy with the TV coverage of the trial itself?
