ARITON, Ala. - An Amber Alert has been issued for three month old Daniel Jackson Lowe. He was last seen Sunday night in Ariton, Alabama.

Daniel and his two siblings Brian Dale Dacus III, and Charles Clinton Dacus were taken by unknown suspects in an assault and carjacking. Investigators in Dale County, Alabama say the two other boys were found unharmed shortly after the carjacking. But Daniel is still missing and considered to be in danger.

The suspect was driving a 1991 Maroon or Burgandy Buick LeSabre with Alabama license plate number 34B19D8, according to an update alert from the Alabama DPS. Initially, law enforcement was looking for a 1996 Gray Isuzu Rodeo SUV with Alabama Plate number 61B93J9.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) today received a 911 call at approximately 1:49 a.m. from a woman who alleged she discovered two unknown children in a roadway near her home in Black, Ala. and transported the children to a Walton County, Fla. hospital.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Dale County Sheriff’s Office issued an Alabama Amber Alert for Daniel Jackson Lowe. He was last seen Sunday, June 5 in Ariton, Ala. Daniel and his two siblings, Brian Dale Dacus III and Charles Clinton Dacus, were taken by unknown suspects in an alleged assault and carjacking. Brian and Charles Dacus were located by a citizen and transported to a Walton County, Fla. hospital. Three-month-old Daniel Jackson Lowe is still missing.

Dale County responded to a call last night in reference to an assault and a kidnapping. When the deputies arrived a couple reported that they were assaulted and there children ages 1 y.o. 3 y.o. and 3 months old were taken. As the search began for the children Dale County S.O. was notified by Walton County that they had the 1 y.o. and the 3 y.o.

Dale County Sheriff Wally Olsen along with, Dale County Sheriff's Deputies, Walton County Deputies, Geneva County Deputies and other agencies are on scene in Geneva County conducting the search for the three month old. Dale County S.O. also has their helicopter in the area.

A statewide Amber Alert remains in effect for a three-month-old baby who was last seen Sunday night in southeast Alabama. The search for Daniel Jackson Lowe is centered in Geneva County, just above the Florida line, southwest of Dothan.The baby was last seen in Ariton, Alabama on Sunday evening. Ariton is between Troy and Ozark.

The infant, and his two siblings, Brian Dale Dacus III, and Charles Clinton Dacus were taken by unknown suspects in an alleged assault and carjacking. The two older children were found alive overnight. WTVY, the CBS affiliate in Dothan, is reporting a woman called the Walton County Sheriff's Office in Florida at approximately 1:49am, saying she found the two boys in a roadway near her home in Black, a small community just above the Florida line in Geneva County. The woman drove the boys to a hospital in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.

"The two toddlers could travel a little bit, but the infant is stationary, so we've sent every available person to search the area," said Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson.

"We've done a grid search from Dale County to Black, Alabama."

The suspect or suspects were driving a 1991 maroon or burgundy Buick LeSabre with Alabama license plate number 34B19D8.Daniel is white, and about 24 inches long. He weighs approximately 13 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair.

3-month-old, subject of Monday Amber Alert, found safe



ARITON, Alabama -- The Alabama Department of Public Safety canceled an Amber Alert for Daniel Jackson Lowe, 3 months, reported taken on Monday during an abduction and car-jacking, according to the alert.

No details are being provided on the Amber Alert site, but, WALA, Fox10, is reporting the child was recovered late Monday night or early Tuesday morning by the FBI.

Arrests made in Ariton baby abduction

A man and woman have been charged with kidnapping and robbery in connection with the abduction of three children in Ariton on Sunday.

Melissa Lynn Mione and Robert Wesley Rogers are each charged with three counts of first-degree kidnapping and one count of first-degree robbery.

Their arrests are in connection with the kidnapping of three children, two of whom were found early Tuesday morning in rural Geneva County. The other child, 3-month-old Daniel Jackson Lowe, was found early Tuesday at another location which authorities have not yet identified.

An AMBER Alert was in place Monday for baby Daniel after two of his siblings were found abandoned in a driveway in Black, which is in Geneva County.

According to Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson, an assault and carjacking were reported around 9 p.m. Sunday southeast of Ariton, where three children – including Daniel – were allegedly taken by a person or persons that Daniel’s mother and boyfriend met on the Internet.

Olson said there appears to be no relation between the parents and the suspects. Nor was a motive released as to why two of the children were dropped off and Daniel remained missing.

An AMBER Alert is issued when a child is abducted and the case meets certain criteria for the incident to be broadcast on radio, television and highway signs, according to the program’s website.

A child for whom an AMBER alert was issued from Holmes County, Fla., last month was recovered safely in Kentucky after a motorist recognized the description of a suspect’s vehicle, officials said.

Residents around Ariton said criminal activity like carjackings and assaults seldom – if ever – occurred in the area.

“We’re so close-knit and everyone really knows everyone. I don’t know that we even have police around the clock because nothing really happens here,” Ariton resident Michael Dooley said.

Resident Justin Warren agreed.

“Everybody just keeps to themselves,” he said. “Not a lot goes on in places like this.”

Officials said Walton and Geneva County sheriff’s departments and multiple other state and local agencies assisted the Dale County Sheriff’s Office with the search on Monday.
