A 9-year-old Flushing girl never returned home Thursday night
after visiting a friend at 44-15 Colden St.

Police are looking for Lucy Lin, who was last seen at 10:30 p.m.
when she left the Colden Street apartment building to return to her
home on Kissena Boulevard. It is unclear why she left alone at that
time of night. Police sources report that the girl did not have her
apartment key so she left school, PS 24, with a friend on Thursday
afternoon.

She is described as 5 feet tall, weighing 140 pounds with a
ponytail and speaks Mandarin and English. Lucy was wearing a pink
flowered dress and was carrying a pink bookbag.Lucy’s stepmother reported her missing to police around 11 p.m.
The girl’s father was out of town on business and her mother either
lives in China or Florida, a source said.Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1
(800) 577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit tips by logging
onto nypdcrimestoppers.com, or by texting 274637 (CRIMES), then
entering TIP577. All tips are strictly confidential.

I just do not understand a 9 year old walking alone anytime, but especially at night.

It's a strange one Onehope. No updates either that I can find.

Hmmm...doesn't seem to be any updates at all on this case, strange.

There wasn't much coverage on this case in the media; however, my mom reads Chinese newspapers where there was more coverage/details on this matter. Lucy was found safe and sound. The flyers posted all over Flushing really helped because shortly after, Lucy was recognized by a tenant who phoned the police. Lucy had been seen loitering around an apt bldg. When asked why she didn't go home, she said, she was afraid to go home. I am guessing this has something to do with her stepmom (her dad was on business trip) so it would've been just the two of them. This whole situation is sad because someone her age shouldn't be out so late & someone should've walked her home/picked her up from her friend's house. This situation could've had a sad ending; I'm glad she is safe and sound and hope things get sorted out at home.

No problem. I also tried looking for something online and couldn't find anything either. I figured my mom heard something as Chinese newspaper usually go in depth with crimes in the Chinese community & it was in yesterday's article so guessing she was found sometime Friday. I actually live in Flushing, NY and a flyer with her picture was posted outside my apartment building (has since been taken down). Will post official information if I find something either in print/online.

Onehope, thanks for the warm welcome. This particular case touched close to home, I went to junior high school a couple of blocks from where she went missing. I have been residing in Flushing, NY for the past 19 years and unfortunately, the past few years, the city has gone down in the dumps. Just a couple of days ago, an 8 year old girl was molested in Flushing, NY. A man climbed into her 2nd floor window and molested her. Her parents heard her scream and he ran off so this pervert is still at large. This is just heartbreaking that there are such sick people out there. Lucy Lin is a fortunate little girl, especially since many missing children do not return home safely.
