The defense called several expert witnesses yesterday. The first called to the stand was Maureen Bottrel, geologist forensic examiner for the FBI. She analyzed soil taken from the trunk of Casey’s car. Ms. Bottrel was asked to do this prior to Caylee’s remains being found in hopes that her findings would assist in locating Caylee. Once Caylee’s remains were found she did no further work.
