13-Year-Old Ran Away From Behavioral Center, Deputies Say

UMATILLA, Fla. -- Lake County sheriff’s detectives are searching for a 13-year-old girl who was last seen Monday at a behavioral center.

Deputies said Taya Cannino ran away from the Turning Point Ranch in Umatilla.



According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, Taya has mental health issues that require medication, and she has not had her medication since Monday.

Detectives are talking to Taya’s friends and acquaintances to try to find her. She's also been entered into a state and national database for missing and endangered children, deputies said.

Anyone with knowledge of Taya’s whereabouts is urged to call the Lake County Sheriff’s Office or their local law enforcement agency.

Lake County deputy sheriffs are looking for a 13-year-old girl with mental health issues who ran away from a behavioral health facility, authorities said.

Taya Cannino was last seen Monday at the Turning Point Ranch in Umatilla, a residential program operated by the non-profit Lifestream organization which specializes in behavioral health.

Cannino suffers from several mental disorders and has not had her medication for two days.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Jim Vachon said detectives are checking with Cannino's friends and family to track her down.

Her mother, Jessica Cannino, lives in Brooksville in nearby Marion County.

Taya is 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds.

Anyone with information about Cannino's whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff's Office or local law enforcement.
