A missing Rogersville teenager has been found in Boone County,
Ark., said Webster County Sheriff Roye Cole.
The 13-year-old was not kidnapped, Cole said, but left her home
willingly with several adults. She was last seen Thursday, July 14,
and was found in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 17, in the
small Arkansas town of Lead Hill.
“Basically, we put a lot of pressure on some people and they gave
her up,” Cole said of how the girl was found.
The girl is not being identified because she is now being
considered the victim of sexual crimes. Charges are pending for at
least two adults and possibly more. Cole said charges most likely
will be filed in Taney County and Boone County, Ark.
While trying to locate the girl, the sheriff had previously stated
she was being considered depressed and confused and had made more
than one attempt to be picked up by strangers, including at least
one sex offender.Cole, a former juvenile officer and also from Rogersville, said
such cases always hit close to home.“This is the only thing I’ve worked on since then,” Cole said of
the girl’s disappearance. “Now you just feel responsible. You just
got to get it done. You don’t stop.”As of Sunday morning,
the girl had been taken to an unnamed medical
facility.Law enforcement offices working on the case include the Webster
County, Taney County and Boone County, Ark., sheriff’s offices.

Charges are still pending in the case involving a missing
Rogersville teenager — and they may be on the federal level.
Webster County Sheriff Roye Cole said Monday that he has been
contacted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding the case.
“They wanted to know what the details were, so I filled them
in,” Cole said, adding his office would be sending a copy of their
entire investigation. Thursday, July 14, a 13-year-old girl left
her home in the company of several adults. She was taken south to
Lead Hill, Ark., where she was found Sunday, July 17, by authorities.
While trying to locate the girl, Cole had previously stated she
was considered depressed and confused and had made more than one
attempt to be picked up by strangers, including at least one sex
offender, by phone and over the Internet.
She is being considered the victim of sexual crimes. Cole
explained the FBI is considering pressing charges on the case
because adults took the underage girl across state lines.
Currently, charges are being considered in both Webster and Taney counties.
“If they do it (press charges), none of us will,” Cole said. One
man is being held in the Taney County jail, in relation to the
case. He is not being identified because no charges have been filed.
