An Amber Alert has been issued in southwest Ohio for a missing toddler from Montgomery County.

Police say Dewayne Wills Jr. was last seen at
1:30 a.m. when his non-custodial father abducted him from a moving
van. The father is armed and fired shots at a vehicle during the
abduction.







Wills is 2-years-old and is a black male, 3
feet tall and weighing 30 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was
last seen wearing a white tank top and gray shorts.

The suspect is a black male, about 39
years old, 5'10" and 225 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was
last seen wearing a white V-neck shirt and black cargo pants.

Amber Alert Issued For Dayton Toddler

An Amber Alert has been issued for a toddler missing from the Dayton, Ohio area.

Officials say the boy's non-custodial father abducted 2 year old Dewayne Wills Jr. from a van filled with family members in Dayton around 1:30 a.m. Thursday. Shots were reportedly fired during the abduction but no one was hurt.

The boy is a black male, three feet tall, and weighs 30 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and is wearing a white tank top and grey shorts. The boy's father, 39 year old Dewayne Wills, is a black male with black hair, brown eyes, and was wearing a white v-neck t-shirt and black cargo pants. He stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weights 225 pounds.

Police believe Wills is driving a late model white Toyota Camry. Police also consider him armed and dangerous. DAYTON — A SWAT team and negotiators assembled in the area of Rosa Parks
Elementary School for more than 10 hours Thursday in connection with an
Amber Alert that had been issued for a 2-year-old boy allegedly abducted by his father.
At 10:30 p.m., police had surrounded a house on Otterbein Avenue and were
using a bullhorn to talk to someone inside, asking the person to come out.
It is believed that DeWayne Wills Sr., 39, was the person in the house. He
is accused of taking his son, DeWayne Wills Jr. early Thursday morning.
Dayton Police Major Robert Chabali said they received information that led
them to believe that the child and his father were in the area of Otterbein and Harold avenues.
“Our main purpose is the safety of that child. We want to recover that child,” Chabali said.
Police consider Wills, who does not have legal custody of his child, armed
and dangerous, according to police radio broadcasts.
“This is a violent individual,” Chabali said. “He has quite an intensive record involving violence.”
The father and son disappeared after a disturbance at 307 Wexford Place that
ended in front of the Express Food Store at Gettysburg and Necco avenues.
Wills left with relatives in a van belonging to Calvary Missionary Baptist
Church. The suspect’s father-in-law and another relative had offered to
drive to a home in Trotwood to discuss whatever led to the disturbance on
Wexford Place, where Wills allegedly shot a gun into the air. While en route
in the van, Wills changed his mind and decided to leave the van, police said.
Wills asked if he could hug his son, but relatives objected. That’s when Wills
grabbed his son and opened the church van door while the van was still in
motion, police said. The driver stopped the van and Wills jumped out with his son at Cornell Drive.
Wills then fired four shots at the van, but no one inside it was injured. The
people inside the van included five adults and three children, including Wills’ 1-year-old daughter.
Chabali said that from where the shots hit, they believe Wills was trying to hurt those inside the vehicle.
Wills fled on foot with his son in an unknown direction.
Police had been in contact with Wills, who told police the child is safe. But
Wills refused to disclose the child’s location, Dayton Police Sgt. Larry Tolpin said.
Wills was involved in a similar abduction of his son in 2009, according to a
police incident report. In that case, Wills gave his son to another party.
Kidnapping and aggravated burglary charges were filed against Wills on July
31, 2009 and he was arrested Aug. 18, 2010, according to a police incident
report. However, the grand jury declined to indict him . He was convicted of
falsification, a first-degree misdemeanor, which was filed the same day of
his arrest. The judge suspended 174 days and gave him 6 days of jail credit for time served.
Wills has been in prison twice, once for theft and another for aggravated
burglary and theft convictions. The second time, he spent almost 10 years in
jail. He also has a misdemeanor domestic violence conviction.
