BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont teenager has been reported missing in Brattleboro,
Seventeen-year-old Marble Arvidson, of West Brattleboro, was last seen Saturday afternoon and may have been headed for a hike. The Brattleboro Reformer reports that Arvidson, a Brattleboro Union High School student who was living with two mentors, hasn't been seen since.
His case manager at Families First, a human services agency, says she's
afraid something might have happened to Arvidson since Tropical Storm
Irene hit. She says he's a high-functioning boy with many connections in
the community and probably would've checked in with someone if he
were OK.
A missing persons report was filed Monday.
Brattleboro police didn't return calls seeking comment on the disappearance.

Wednesday August 31, 2011 BRATTLEBORO
-- A 17-year-old Brattleboro man is feared to be injured or worse after
he was reported missing prior to Tropical Storm Irene hitting the area,
according to police.

Marble Arvidson is described as a tall, lanky and athletic.
He was last seen leaving his home, along Marlboro Road in West
Brattleboro just after 2:15 p.m., on Saturday heading toward the woods.
He was wearing black slacks, a long-sleeve black shirt, black sneakers
and a dark bowler hat.
Friends and family put up posters around downtown Brattleboro in hopes that someone may have seen him.
Julie Cunningham, executive director of Families First, said
she's known Arvidson for 11 years and served as his case manager with
Families First ever since.
According to Cunningham, Arvidson had plans the afternoon of his
disappearance to meet up with his girlfriend at his home after he went
out for a hike.
"He was supposed to meet her at 4 p.m., Cunningham said. "Which
is why it would make sense if he wanted to go for a hike, he would have
done it close by."
Brattleboro Police Officer Adam Belville said there's growing
concern about his disappearance, especially after the historic rainfall
and flash floods in west Brattleboro on Sunday.
"It doesn't take much to find yourself in need of assistance,
especially with the amount of rain and flooding we had," Belville said.
"We have a great concern of finding him because so many days have
passed.
With the recent storm that fear has amplified."
Neither Belville or Cunningham said they thought this was a runaway situation.
"He was looking forward to going back to school for his senior
year," Cunningham said. "There was nothing to indicate that there was
any kind of conflict he was trying to avoid."
All his friends have been interviewed, and no one said that they had seen or heard from him after Saturday afternoon, she said.
As the hours and days wore on, it became apparent something was wrong, something had happened to him, Cunningham said.
"Marble is a great kid whose loved in the community," Cunningham
said. "There's lots of people who he would have been in contact with."
She added that Marble had lived in Wilmington and with the
massive destruction Irene caused Sunday and Monday, she's confident
Arvidson would have at least reached out to his friends and family there
to check on their condition.

Anyone with information about Marble Arvidson is urged to contact
Julie Cunningham at 802-258-1390 or the Brattleboro Police at 802-257-7946.

Brattleboro police are asking the public for help locating Marble Arvidson, 17, who
was last seen a day before Tropical Storm Irene battered the Green Mountain State.

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. – Despite missing person posters and the best efforts of
law enforcement in Vermont, there is no sign of a 17-year-old boy who was last seen
a day before Tropical Storm Irene brought record rain-levels to the Green Mountain State.

Marble Arvidson was last seen on Saturday leaving his home on
Marlboro Road in West Brattleboro around 2:15 p.m. According to police,
he was going for a hike and planning to meet his girlfriend at 4 p.m.

He was seen entering the woods and not since, prompting concern throughout the area for the young man's safety.

Arvidson's friends have said that it is uncharacteristic for him not
to reach out to anyone for so long, and police have said that they do
not believe his disappearance is a runaway situation.
Julie Cunningham, executive director of Families First, was the case
manager working with Arvidson for the past 11 years. She said that he
got along well with family and would have reached out to his friends in
nearby Wilmington to check on them after that town sustained heavy damage during Irene.

Arvidson, who was last seen wearing a black outfit and a dark bowler
hat, is preparing for his senior year at Brattleboro Union High School.

Anyone with information about Arvidson is asked to call Julie
Cunningham at 802-258-1390 or the Brattleboro Police at 802-257-7946.

BRATTLEBORO -- A local teen is still missing after nine days of searching.
Friends and family are still hopeful that they can find
17-year-old Marble Arvidson safe and sound, but each hour that goes by
without a lead adds stress and fear.
His mother, Sigrid Arvidson, said all she wants to do is embrace him and
let him know that life is terrible without him.
MARBLE ARVIDSON - 17 yo - Brattleboro VT 20110906_053116_MissingKid_200
"We know he’s hurting, scared. We know he wants to be found," she
said. "I so want to embrace him but until I can all we can do is
embrace him with good thoughts, kindness and hope."
A mobile command center was setup in the parking lot of the
Chelsea Royal Dinner over the weekend as groups of volunteers were
orchestrated into search parties in and around Marble’s last known location.
Marble’s aunt, Command Sgt. Maj. Trish Kittredge, was given leave
on short notice by the Massachusetts Army National Guard to lead the organized searches.
Using maps to chart the locations already searched is essential
to ensure no place he may possibly be is overlooked or searched twice, she said.
"We’re looking for the path of least resistance," Kittredge said.
"The first couple of days were focused on getting information about
Marble out to people. As leads failed to come back we began searching
closest to his home and then along any trails he may have taken."
On Aug. 27, Marble was seen by a roommate letting an unknown male into the house sometime after 1 p.m.
He’s described as tall, lanky and athletic. He was last seen leaving
his home along Marlboro Road in West Brattleboro possibly wearing black
slacks, a long-sleeve black shirt, black shoes and a dark hat.
Later that afternoon a note was found indicating that Marble was
going out and would be back sometime around 2:15 p.m., that day -- a few
hours before he was supposed to meet his girlfriend.
Marble’s mother said if anyone had hurt him, she’s already
forgiven them and that she’s just waiting for someone brave enough to come forward.
"I know as his mom, anyone who may know anything about him is still carrying some horribleness," she said.
Local searches will continue through Sept. 11, Kittredge said.
"Unless I have some credible information to look somewhere else
we’re going to continue searching locally," she said. "After this
weekend if he’s still not found we’ll re-evaluate."
Kittredge said she’s been working closely with the Brattleboro
Police trying to locate any clue as to where Marble may have gone or been taken.
Det. Paul Beebe said police agencies are still actively looking
for Arvidson and are still treating his disappearance as a missing persons case.
"He’s not a runaway," Beebe said. "He’s a missing person and we’re actively investigating every avenue we can."
On Monday, groups of volunteers brought ATVs to drive through as
many trails as possible between West Brattleboro and Marlboro, near where Marble lived.
Bruce Williams said he and two other volunteers rode through the forested area and checked a local junkyard.
"We looked in every culvert, in and around every downed tree and
stopped at every footprint and cigarette butt we saw but to no avail," he said.
Williams, who joined the search party after learning of it through Facebook, said he knows Marble will be found.
"This town is too small. There has to be someone who saw something," he said.
Two friends of Marble’s mother, Lauren Harris and Matt McNamara, spent the weekend searching for him.
"We’ve put on a lot of miles with no leads," Harris said.
The two of them were joined by Tom Heavner as they searched
several abandoned buildings near the Connecticut River in Brattleboro.
They too, found no new leads.
Kittredge didn’t seem surprised that all they discovered was where a lot of people decided to squat.
"When we’re doing searches in town it’s the hope that he’s just
hiding out with a friend," Kittredge said. "When we’re doing searches in
the woods ... we’re looking for a body."
Kittredge said information boxes have been setup at various
locations around Brattleboro for anyone to put in an anonymous tip about
Marble’s location. Missing posters with his picture and a description
of what he looks like and what they believe he was wearing have been put
up in most of Windham County, and parts of southwestern New Hampshire, she said.
Volunteers who wish to help in the search are asked to meet with
Kittredge at the command center in the parking lot of the Chelsea Royal Diner.
Anyone with information about Marble Arvidson is urged to contact the Brattleboro Police at 802-257-7946.

Family and police seek clues in disappearance of Marble Arvidson, 17, last seen the day before Irene hit
by VTD Editor | September 9, 2011

MARBLE ARVIDSON - 17 yo - Brattleboro VT 20110908_marble-500x317
Marble Arvidson, 17, with a family member at a party last year celebrating his
grandmother’s 90th birthday. Marble was last seen Aug. 27, before
rainfall from Hurricane Irene created massive flooding in the region.
Marble’s family believes that he left his house with an unidentified man.

Editor’s note: This article, by Fran Lynggaard Hansen, was first published in The Commons.

BRATTLEBORO — “Base operations,” answers Trish Kittredge, as she
participates in her fifth telephone conversation in less than 14 minutes.

Kittredge is organizing the search for her missing nephew,
17-year-old Marble Arvidson, a senior at Brattleboro Union High School.

Marble was last seen as he left his home in West Brattleboro on Aug.
27, the day before Tropical Storm Irene rocked the area with heavy rains and flash flooding.

In charge, yet calm, Kittredge, a command sergeant major for the Army
National Guard in Massachusetts, had been called into active duty because of Hurricane Irene.

When her nephew went missing, she was given leave to organize his search.

Marble Arvidson

Marble Arvidson is 165 pounds and 6 ft. 2 in. tall. He has blond,
shoulder-length hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion. If you have heard
or seen anything that could help identify the unknown individual Marble
was seen with, or any other information at all, please do not hesitate
to contact the family’s Operation Find Marble number, (802) 490-2003,
or the Brattleboro Police, at 802-257-7946. Even the tiniest piece of
information is important, police say. Anonymous tips are welcomed.

The table under the information tent, set up in the parking lot of the Chelsea Royal Diner,
is organized and ready for anything.

A pile of orange vests sits in a big box on the ground. A
banquet-sized table holds maps full of grids, yellow sticky notes
marking areas that have been searched.

A volunteer sign-up sheet is ready on a clipboard. Kittredge’s open
Volvo station wagon is loaded with missing-person posters. People wander
over to the desk, ask questions, take posters, dispense hugs, offer
somber well-wishes, some request and are assigned tasks.

A great kid

“Marble is very dear to us,” say his aunts, Jane Arvidson and Joanne
McGowan, finishing each others’ sentences as they describe the youth.

“None of us believe he is a runaway. Anyone who knows him would know that,” McGowan says.

“There is no way that he would not have made contact with someone
close to him,” Arvidson says, “as he has a large family, supportive
adults in his life and lots of friends. ”

Checking in, his aunts say, was always a part of his behavior.

“The challenge is that there is no intelligent information about
where he would be,” says Kittredge, as she looks down at her maps.
“We’re doing cursory searches, so we are looking at the path of least
resistance. We don’t have any information about where he likely walked
off to, so we are checking roads and logging trails alongside the river.”

The first couple of days, Marble’s family and friends focused on getting the word out that he’d gone missing.

As they printed flyers, launched a website and created a special
Facebook profile, Marble’s family hoped that someone would come forward
with an idea about where he might be.

“As that didn’t happen,” Kittredge says, “we couldn’t just sit here
and do nothing, so we started searching, looking along trails he might have walked along.”

The day Marble went missing

All they know for certain is that Marble Arvidson was at his home on the afternoon of Aug. 27.

One of the four members of the household saw Marble in the afternoon.
Another heard someone knock at the door and Marble conversing with a
man whose voice was not recognized.

Marble left a note saying he was going out and would be back in about 20 minutes.
He marked it with the time — 2:17 p.m.

He never returned.

“We don’t know if he left in a car, went walking — nobody knows but
the person who knocked on the door, and we haven’t been able to identify
who that person is,” Kittredge said.

The big push is to find out who came to the house and was the last person who saw Marble.”
- Trish Kittridge

“Unless they come forward, we have no other information. The big push
is to find out who came to the house. They were the last person who saw Marble,” she said.

Marble’s family believes he left dressed in black and a favorite black bowler hat. They assume he left wearing boots.

His grandfather, Larry Beaudoin of Greenfield, Mass., said that
Marble had a date with his girlfriend at 4 p.m. on the very day he went
missing. “What young man who is looking forward to a date with his
girlfriend on a Saturday afternoon doesn’t come back to see her?” he asks.

“All I can think about is the last time I hugged him,” Beaudoin said.

Through it all, Kittredge continues to staff the information booth
and her telephone. During the evening, her other sisters take over phone
duties.

What keeps Kittredge going?

“My sister’s son is missing,” she says sadly. “This is what needs to be done.”

Many note the unfortunate timing of Tropical Storm Irene in Vermont,
whose wreckage has dominated headlines, at the expense, they say, of
coverage of the youth’s disappearance.

“Human life is worth more than mud, and I’ve got kids,” Tina Fisher, a
mother from Halifax, says, noting the number of volunteers cleaning up
around town after the storm. “If one of mine went missing, I’d want
someone out there looking for them.”

She grabs more posters.

A truck with all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) pulls into the parking lot.
Deana Des Reusseau of Greenfield, Mass., and Bruce Williams of Erving,
Mass., have been riding up Route 9 for the past couple of hours
searching for Marble. They’ve been searching car lots, woods, an old gravel bank.

“These aren’t places that are easy to get to on foot, but we didn’t find anything,” Williams says sadly, shaking his head.

Britne Stark meets Des Reuisseau and Williams for the first time at the information booth and joins them on their ride.

Britne, who knows Marble and is in his class at Brattleboro Union
High, describes Marble as someone who “knows a lot of people, but he’s
only friends with just a few.”

But, she says: “He would do just about anything for anybody. He
always gives up his seat on the bus if someone doesn’t have one.”

She starts to tear up and brushes aside the drops on her face.

“If he could, he’d have called somebody by now,” Britne says.

Giving thanks

On day nine of the search, about 12 to 15 people have come out to look for Marble.
No new leads have come in.

In the middle of the afternoon, Sigrid Arvidson, Marble’s mother,
comes to the information booth after looking for her son all morning in
other parts of town.

Arvidson wants to thank everyone for their prayers and their help in finding her son.

“We want him back,” she says, tears pouring down both cheeks.

“Marble, if you see this, we remember you, we know you want to be found.
We feel your absence every hour,” she says.

“Come home to us.”

Marble Arvidson, 17, from Brattleboro, Vermont has been missing since August 27.

He was last seen leaving his home on Marlboro Road in West
Brattleboro. Later that afternoon a note was found saying he was going
out and would be back later. He was suppose to be meeting his
girlfriend.

Authorities are treating this case as a missing persons, and not a runaway, as is usually the case with missing teens.

A search party has been ongoing since August 27th and will continue
through September 11. The search is concentrating locally and they are
searching trails with ATV. Abandoned buildings have also been searched.

If you have any information you can leave it anonymously here or at
one of the information boxes setup in Brattleboro, or call
802-257-7946.

If you would like to help in the search you can meet at the parking
lot of the Chelsea Royal Diner. They also need help putting up flyers
as the rain destroyed many of them and they need new ones put up.

Marble is 6'2", 165 pounds, blond shoulder-length hair, blue eyes, fair complexion.

Monday September 12, 2011 BRATTLEBORO
-- It has been more than two weeks with no new concrete leads and
friends and family are left asking, "Where is Marble Arvidson?"
Arvidson, 17, of Brattleboro, a tall, athletic, lanky teen with
shoulder-length light brown hair, was last seen Aug. 27, at his home
along Marlboro Road in West Brattleboro answering the door for an
unknown male, by one of his roommates sometime around 1 p.m.
He had left a note indicating he was going out for a short walk
and would be back about 2:15 p.m., in time to meet his girlfriend by 4.
Arvidson never returned.

The search for the missing teen has been led by his aunt, Command
Sgt. Maj. Trish Kittredge, who was given leave on short notice by the
MARBLE ARVIDSON - 17 yo - Brattleboro VT 20110906_053116_MissingKid_100Marble Ace Arvidson

Kittredge said that although there has been tremendous outpouring
through social networking and the dozens of volunteers who have gone out
on search parties, the mystery of Arvidson's disappearance has gained
little momentum.
"The frustrating part is not having a clue where he went or where
to start," she said. "We've had bits and pieces of information coming
in through Facebook, Twitter and our anonymous top boxes about where
Marble was and what he was doing up until his disappearance, but there's
still no solid leads."
The family is now offering a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to finding Arvidson, Kittredge said.
"There has to be someone who knows what happened," she
said. "I have to believe that they'll come forward even though they may be afraid to do so."

Police are searching through Arvidson's computer and phone records to
try and figure out any information about the unknown male who was last
seen with him or any clue about his location.
Last week Kittredge said someone who knew Marble from attending
school with him at Brattleboro Union High School, said they though they
saw him walking along Route 5 from Dummerston toward Putney but his hair
had been cut very short.
Neither police or family have been able to locate anyone that
fits his description in that area and no one else has spotted him, with
or without short hair, she said.
On Sept. 17 and 18, if Arvidson is still missing and nothing has
been found to give the police, family or friends a clue where to look,
Kittredge said she'll bring in specially trained dogs, people on
horseback, ATVs, and organize a large, 50 or so person search party to
scour certain areas they think he could have gone.
Sigrid Arvidson, Marble's mother, said all she wants to do is embrace her son.
"We know he's hurting, scared. We know he wants to be found," she said.
Kittredge said she has been working closely with the Brattleboro Police and forwarding any information they receive.
Det. Paul Beebe said police agencies are still actively looking
for Arvidson and are still treating his disappearance as a missing persons case.
"He's not a runaway," Beebe said. "He's a missing person and we're actively investigating every avenue we can."
Until he's found, Kittredge said, the search parties will
continue to be orchestrated out of the Chelsea Royal Diner parking lot
and volunteers will go door-to-door asking anyone if they've seen
Arvidson and if they have, what the last time was.

A website, findmarble.org has
been setup as a way to keep people informed about how the search is
going and if any new leads have been given, Kittredge said.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Trish Kittredge at
413-478-1669, the Brattleboro Police at 802-257-7946 and any tip can be
e-mailed to findmarble@gmail.com, or mailed to P.O. Box 880, Brattleboro Vt., 05301.

Search for missing teen intensifies
Posted: Wednesday, September 14, 2011 12:15 pm
BRATTLEBORO — The search for a teenager missing since late last
month continues Saturday with coordinated search parties in the
West Brattleboro area where he lived and along Hogback Mountain
between there and Wilmington.

Seventeen-year-old Marble A. Arvidson went missing Aug. 27 in
the Brattleboro area, just hours before Tropical Storm Irene
slammed the state with flooding rains and high winds.

Since then, Arvidson’s aunt Trish Kittredge, a command sergeant
major on leave from the Massachusetts National Guard, has led
efforts to search for the missing teen.
This week, Kittredge announced the launch of a website,
www.FindMarble.org, that provides information about the case; a
$1,000 reward is being offered for help in locating Arvidson.
At a news conference in Brattleboro Tuesday afternoon, Kittredge
said dozens of community members have been canvassing Brattleboro
neighborhoods distributing fliers with information about Arvidson,
conducting searches in the areas around his home and searching for
information on the Internet that may point to the teen’s
whereabouts.
Brattleboro police Detective Paul Beebe said police are treating
Arvidson’s disappearance as a missing persons case, not a
runaway.
“Since Arvidson was reported missing the Brattleboro Police
Department has treated his disappearance as a top priority,” Beebe
said. “We have committed every available resource, which has
exceeded well over 200 combined man hours and we will continue to
do so.”
Local police are working with state and federal authorities on
the investigation, Beebe said.
Arvidson was last seen by the people he lived with on the
afternoon of Aug. 27 at his home talking with an unidentified
person, Beebe said.
He left the house and left a note behind saying he’d be back in
about 30 minutes, but hasn’t been seen or heard from since,
Kittredge said.
Despite previous media reports, Kittredge said there was no
indication in the note that he was going hiking or walking and he
was never seen entering the woods near his home.
Leaving a note is common practice at the house where Arvidson
was living, Kittredge said.
She declined to comment on who Arvidson was living with, saying
only that he was surrounded by people who love him.
His mother, Sigrid Arvidson of Brattleboro, said during the
press conference that it’s hard for her to express the gratitude
she feels for people who have tried to help locate her son.
“This has been a difficult few months for the people of
Brattleboro given recent events and your helping our family at this
terrible time is appreciated very, very, very much,” she said.
Sigrid Arvidson described her son as a loving and sensitive
young man.
“Any of you who knows Marble and knows his wonderful sense of
humor and his quick intelligence must miss him,” she said.
Family friend Pat Cataldo said he hopes that anyone who knows
something about Arvidson’s disappearance will come forward.
“Marble’s been a bright spot in my life for seven or eight
years,” Cataldo said. “Marble, you’re one of those rare individuals
who’s really good at heart, and you’ve got a bright mind and it’s
just, that bright area now is dark and I wish you could just come
back.”
A coordinated search is planned Saturday at 9 a.m. in
Brattleboro.
Volunteers 18 years old and older are asked to meet at the
Chelsea Royal Diner at 497 Route 9 in West Brattleboro to join
search parties headed into areas around Arvidson’s home and an area
of Hogback Mountain where he was known to hike, Kittredge said.
Because it is hunting season, searchers are asked to join the
organized search parties and not go out on their own, Kittredge
said.

where tips can be sent, is available at www.findmarble.org or by

The search for missing Vermont teenager Marble Arvidson continues

MARBLE ARVIDSON - 17 yo - Brattleboro VT 9982495-largeMarble "Ace" Arvidson, 17, has been missing since Aug. 27, the day before Tropical Storm Irene battered southern Vermont.

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -- A large-scale weekend search
for Marble Arvidson turned up no new evidence in the disappearance of
the West Brattleboro teenager, who's been missing since the day before
Tropical Storm Irene pounded southern Vermont and northwestern Massachusetts.

The dozens of volunteers and supporters who took part in "Hike for a Cause" -- a two-day ground search of the West Brattleboro area on
Saturday and Sunday -- were unable to locate Arvidson, who was last seen Aug. 27, the day before Tropical Storm Irene caused widespread flooding in Brattleboro and elsewhere across southern Vermont.

Arvidson's friends and family, including his aunt, Massachusetts National Guard Sgt. Maj. Patricia Kittredge, are coordinating efforts to find Arvidson, who's considered to be a missing person and not a runaway.
This past weekend's search was organized by Kittredge, who's on leave from the National Guard to help find her nephew.

Reports indicate Arvidson may have had contact with an unknown male the day he disappeared. However, search organizers still don't know if
either the storm or the unidentified man played a role in Arvidson's disappearance.
To date, a cash reward, posters, smaller ground searches and coverage of Arvidson's case by The Republican, The Brattleboro Reformer and other regional media outlets have not helped locate Arvidson.
The boy's mother, Sigrid Arvidson, pleaded with the public to come forward with any information about her son during a press conference last week.
“This has been a difficult few months for the people of Brattleboro given recent events, and you helping our family at this terrible time is
appreciated very much," she said. "Any of you who know Marble, and know his wonderful sense of humor and his quick intelligence, must miss him."

Arvidson is about 6 feet, 2 inches tall with shoulder-length blonde hair, and he was wearing a black shirt and fedora at the time of his disappearance.

BRATTLEBORO — The search for Marble Arvidson persists, but Pat
Cataldo has begun referring to the missing Brattleboro teenager in the
past tense.“He was a great kid,” said
Cataldo, Arvidson’s former foster father, Wednesday. “I’m thinking the
worst. ... I’m mourning. I’m grieving.”

Arvidson, 17, walked
away from his home the afternoon of Aug. 27 — the day before Tropical
Storm Irene swept through town. He reportedly left with someone unknown
to police, but not before pinning a note to the door saying he intended
to return within a half-hour. His girlfriend planned to pick him up
later that afternoon.

“There’s no doubt we’re in a very
scared, fearful place with it all,” said Julie Cunningham, Arvidson’s
case manager. “Those of us who really knew Marb well don’t believe he
would have run away. So it seems that something happened to him.”

Brattleboro police have scheduled a news conference for this afternoon
to update the public on the missing person investigation, and to solicit
tips from anyone with knowledge of Arvidson’s whereabouts.

“We’re just getting the word out again,” Detective Paul Beebe said. “To see if anyone else can come forward.”

MARBLE ARVIDSON - 17 yo - Brattleboro VT 20110906_053116_MissingKid_200Marble Ace Arvidson

Monday October 31, 2011 BRATTLEBORO
-- It's been more than two months since 17-year-old Marble Ace Arvidson
went missing but his family and friends have refused to give up hope in
finding him. Marble was last seen leaving his home along Marlboro Road
in West Brattleboro on Aug. 27, the day before Tropical Storm Irene tore
through Windham County.
He's described as a tall, lanky and athletic teen with
shoulder-length blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing black
slacks, a long-sleeve black shirt, black shoes and possibly a
fedora-style black hat. His aunt, Trish Kittredge, a sergeant major with
the Massachusetts Army National Guard, has been spending nearly every
weekend since his disappearance leading orchestrated search parties in
and around Marble's last known location.
On Nov. 5, from 6 to 10 p.m., a fundraising concert will be held
at the Stone Church in downtown Brattleboro with all of the proceeds
going to assist in the search of Marble. Six musical acts have donated
their time and effort to the event including Spiralia, Message Received,
Clayton Sabine, Heather Maloney, Bob Stannard and Christopher Kleeman.
Tickets for the event are $20.
"It is not often that Bob Stannard and Christopher Kleeman play
together so for blues fans it's a special treat," Kittredge said.
Last month members of Marble's family held a press conference asking anyone who has any information to please step forward.
"My nephew is missing and we need to find him," Kittredge said.
Mike Zaransky, one of Marble's roommates, said he had left before
Marble went missing to spend the weekend with his girlfriend, Emma
Mullen. Zaransky said he called their house and spoke to a fourth
roommates who stated Marble was doing fine.
When he called the next day the other roommate said someone had
knocked on the door, Marble answered it and the interaction between them
appeared to be friendly.
The unknown man is described as about the same age as Marble and a little shorter.
Marble left a note on the door of his room stating he was going
out for about a half hour and would be back around 2:15 p.m., Zaransky said.
"And Marble hasn't been seen since," he said.
Police said despite numerous reported sightings of someone who
looked like Marble, none of them has been confirmed and each lead turned
up a dead end. "It's frustrating but we're continuing to follow every
lead," Brattleboro Det. Sgt. Paul Beebee said.
Marble sightings have been reported throughout New England, in
New York, as far south as Georgia and even in Berlin, Germany, Beebee said.
During the press conference a reward for any information that leads to finding Marble was increased to $2,500.

For anyone unable to attend the benefit who wants to contribute, Kittredge said donations can be made through marbleace.chipin.com/marble-arvidson.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Brattleboro
Police at 802-257-7946, the Find Marble Tip line at 802-257-9111, write
the information down and drop it into one of the anonymous tip boxes at
the Brattleboro Food Co-op, send an e-mail to findmarble@gmail.com or visit www.findmarble.org. People can also send information to the Facebook group Find Marble.

Teen with ties to Franklin County still missing

Marble Arvidson disappeared on August 27th

Updated: Thursday, 17 Nov 2011, 4:57 PM EST
SUNDERLAND, Mass. (WWLP) - A teenager, who grew up in Franklin County, has been missing for more than two months.

22News reporter Ryan Walsh spoke with a member of Marble Arvidson's family on Thursday.

Arvidson basically vanished from his Brattleboro, Vermont home on August 27; the day before Tropical Storm Irene.

His
Aunt told 22News that a man came to Marble's home that day, where he
was living with a mentor. Marble then left a note saying he would be
back in 30 minutes. He never returned.

Marble grew up in
Greenfield and Hadley before moving to Vermont about five years ago.
His family scheduled a silent auction Thursday night at the Blue Heron
Restaurant in Sunderland to help raise money for their search. The
Blue Heron staff volunteered their services at this event.
Marble's
Aunt Patricia Kittredge told 22News, "Everyday we don't find his body
is hope that it means that we're going to find him somewhere alive
whether that means that he was abducted by somebody and if he left on
his accord we hope that he knows that we're looking for him and to
please let us know that he is okay."

If you would like to donate or have information on where Marble is or who that man he was with is you can log on to www.findmarble.org for contact information. You can also call Brattleboro Police at 802.257.7946.
Marble
Arvidson is 17 years old, 6'2'', 165 lbs. He has blue eyes and blonde
hair. There is a $2500 reward for information leading to Marble's
whereabouts.
