Police are asking for the public's help in finding a 17-year-old teenager who suffers from a mental disorder.

Stephen Boeschenstein of Beaverton suffers from schizoaffective disorder
and jumped two fences at the Kerr Youth Center at 722 N.E. 162 Avenue
in Portland where he was staying at about 4:45 Thursday.

He was last seen running toward N.E. Glisan Street, according to Gresham police.


Police say he takes daily medication for his illness. Without it, they say, he hears voices that tell him to hurt himself.

They say he's not familiar with the Portland area.

He is white and is 6 feet tall, has brown eyes, a shaved head and weighs
about 180 pounds. He was wearing mustard-colored jeans and a blue and
red poncho with a hood.

If anyone sees him or knows where he is, they are asked to call 911.

GRESHAM, Ore. -- Police asked for the public's help
finding a missing and endangered Beaverton teen who escaped from a Northeast Portland youth center.

Stephen Boeschenstein, 17, was a resident of the Kerr Youth Center,
at 722 NE 162nd Avenue, according to Officer Malaka Kerbs with Gresham
police. Just before 5 p.m. Thursday he reportedly jumped over two fences
to escape from the facility and was last seen running southbound toward
NE Glisan Street.

"Boeschenstein suffers from neurological brain injuries which have
manifested symptoms of mental illness," Kerbs said. "He takes medication
daily for his medical conditions. Without his medication, Stephen may
suffer from seizures or audible hallucinations; telling him to harm himself."

He is not familiar with the area around the facility.

Boeschenstein was described as a white male, 5'11", 170 lbs, with
blue eyes and short dark hair. He was last seen wearing mustard-colored
jeans and a hooded poncho.

Anyone with information was asked to call 911.

The Beaverton teen who escaped from a Northeast Portland youth center Thursday afternoon was found earlier today, said Gresham police spokesperson Malaka Kerbs.

Kerbs said Oregon State Police found Stephen Boeschenstein, 17, in the Hood River area.

Boeschenstein,
who is suffering from mental illness, jumped over two fences on the
northeast side of the Kerr Youth Center, where he is residing, police
said.
