Illinois man accused in infant's death after putting baby wipe in her mouth

GILLESPIE, Ill. -- The father of a 3-month-old girl is accused of causing the infant's death by placing a baby wipe in her mouth.

A grand jury in Macoupin County indicted 27-year-old Richard Morgan Jr. of Gillespie on an involuntary manslaughter charge in the case of Nevaeh Morgan.

The baby died at a hospital in November after authorities say the injuries occurred at Morgan's home in southwestern Illinois.

Morgan is jailed in Carlinville on $100,000 bond.

Morgan couldn't be reached for comment Wednesday. He doesn't have a listed home telephone number, and court records don't show whether he has an attorney.
