Teen dad facing murder charges in death of 6-week-old daughter: sources

A
teenager is facing murder charges in the death of his six-week old girl
at his Brooklyn apartment building last month, police sources said
today.

Eryk Ford, 19, gave a videotaped confession, saying that
he shook his little daughter, Aniyah, and tossed her into a car seat,
resulting in severe brain injuries and fractured ribs, sources said.

The violence occurred at 3:20 p.m. on Jan. 15 in Ford’s apartment on Saint Johns Place near Ralph Avenue.

Aniyah fell unconscious and suffered a stroke, sources said, adding that she also vomited.

Ford
and the paternal grandmother discovered the baby, who was rushed to New
York Hospital in critical, but stable condition, according to the
sources.

Three days later, she fell into a coma and was breathing on a respirator. She was pronounced dead yesterday.

Ford
was originally arrested on Jan. 18 for assaulting the child.
Authorities are now reviewing whether to bring homicide charges against
Ford.
