MADISON SNEAD - 2 yo/ Accused: Silas McCracken III - Abingdon (NC-TN border) VA

ABINDGDON, Va. -
An Abingdon woman and her boyfriend face second-degree murder charges in the death of the woman's 2-year-old daughter.
Abingdon Police Chief Tony Sullivan tells media
outlets that 33-year-old Silas Edward McCracken III is accused of
wrapping Madison Snead in blankets to restrict her movements and then
sitting on the girl's chest.The girl's mother, 25-year-old Sarah
Louise Snead, is accused of helping McCracken restrain the child and not
seeking medical help for her.
A medical examiner's report listed the cause of death as suffocation due to mechanical asphyxia.
McCracken and Snead initially were charged with felony child abuse and neglect after the girl died in November 2011.
Both are being held without bond at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon.
