A New York Post poll on the most-hated people in America contained some good news for Casey Anthony.
More than 9,000 Post readers declared Anthony the worst of the worst nearly a year after she was acquitted of murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.
Yet Anthony isn’t the most detested by a wide margin, which could be good news to the Anthony camp.
Kim Kardashian, a reality star who keeps popping up everywhere, is close behind in the poll. Anthony collected 19.8 percent of the vote to Kardashian’s 17.3 percent. Kardashian even has a role as a relationship guru in the season premiere of “Drop Dead Diva” at 9 p.m. Sunday on Lifetime. If Post readers had seen that episode, Kardashian would undoubtedly have collected more votes.
The Post conducted its poll after former Sen. John Edwards’ acquittal in a campaign fraud case. The Post headlined that Edwards is a “putrid pol” and named him the most hated person in America. But Post readers ranked Edwards at No. 6 — behind Anthony, Kardashian, Jerry Sandusky (with 16.8 percent of the vote), Bernie Madoff (14.7 percent) and Michael Moore (10.3 percent). (Conservative Post readers obviously detest liberal firebrand Moore and Edwards, a disgraced Democrat.)
O.J. Simpson, who used to be the most-hated person in America by a wide margin, was No. 7 in the Post readers’ poll with 5.1 percent of the vote.
Rounding out the Top 10 for Post readers were Mel Gibson (2 percent of the vote), Tiger Woods (2 percent) and Paris Hilton, another reality star who has been ubiquitous. Hilton had 1.8 percent of Post readers’ votes.
Anthony remains in hiding somewhere in Florida while serving a year’s probation for check fraud. But her title as most hated isn’t secure.
The Post’s own ranking of the most-hated people put Anthony at No. 3 — after Edwards and Madoff, but ahead of Simpson, Gibson, Sandusky, Kardashian, Moore, Woods and Hilton.
The Post described Anthony as “the hard-partying Florida mom who beat the rap on charges of murdering toddler-daughter Caylee.”
