DAVIAN BLUNTSON - 21 Months/ Charged: Father-Desmond Bluntson - El Campo / Laredo TX
We continue to receive more details about a shooting at a local hotel
that left one child dead and another critically injured all while their
mother is still missing this evening.
Our crew was out at the Holiday Inn working on another story when the shots were fired.
Terrified guests forced out of the holiday inn civic center,
moments after shots were fired on the 14th floor of the building.
Police responding in droves with guns in hand and the shooter still in the building.
“It was definitely an intense situation when first responders came on scene you knew they meant business.”
Upstairs, a one-year-old baby boy was dead and his six-year-old
brother shot twice allegedly by Demond Blunston, who police managed to
tackle and drag out of the building minutes later.
“The children were shot at point blank range.”
It all began with officers dispatched to the holiday inn around 11-30 Tuesday, after a call from a town outside Houston.
Officers there believed a mother, 28-year-old Brandy Cerny,
reported missing one day earlier and her two young children could be in
danger.
All three were tracked down to the Laredo Holiday Inn and police here were notified.
“The officers arrived here and given a room number. Knocked on the
door. Heard two shots fired inside. And a shot that narrowly missed the
officers at the door.”
Police called for re-enforcement as the officers knocked down the hotel door.
A six year old was rushed by ambulance and to the hospital.
His one-year-old brother killed.
“Detectives along with officers are trying to canvas large crime
scene hotel. Even more imminent is the welfare concern for the female.”
The female, the mother of the two children was thought to have been with her kids.
Police say Cernys' credit card was used to check in to the hotel.
However when her babies were shot, she was nowhere to be found.”
The search still continued hours after one child was confirmed dead and the other remained on life support.
Authorities are searching for clues and a possible motive.
Onlookers left in disbelief.
“It just breaks my heart to hear any child in anyway.”
The suspect, 36-year-old Demond Blunston faces a long list of charges.
At this hour, police are still searching for the children's mother.

Brandy Cerny's Body Found: Demond Bluntson Already In Jail For Allegedly Shooting Her Two Kids
EL CAMPO, Texas — A man accused of fatally shooting his 1-year-old son and critically injuring another boy in a South Texas motel was charged Wednesday with capital murder and assault.
Demond Bluntson, 36, could face yet more charges in El Campo, some 200 miles away, where police believe he killed his girlfriend – the boys' mother – and dumped her body at a property in El Campo where his father lives.
Bluntson was also charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a public servant and one count of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, Laredo police spokesman Joe Baeza said in a statement. He was being held without bond.
Investigators searching for a motive have been stymied by Bluntson's refusal to talk, El Campo police Chief Terry Stanphill said Wednesday.
Police say Bluntson shot and killed his 21-month-old son Davian and shot and wounded 6-year-old Jaydin in a Laredo hotel room Tuesday. Jaydin was on life support at a San Antonio hospital Wednesday, Baeza said.
Stanphill confirmed that a body found Tuesday was 28-year-old Brandy Cerny, Bluntson's girlfriend, and said a preliminary autopsy report cited multiple gunshot wounds as the suspected cause of death.
"The family has mentioned to us that they've had an on and off relationship, their ups and downs and some tough times," Stanphill said. He said his investigator was on his way to Laredo on Tuesday but turned around when police there said Bluntson was refusing to talk.
A neighbor found Cerny's body in a green shack hidden among trees behind a small house and a mobile home on a property where Bluntson's father lives.
Becky Ivy, a legal assistant in the Wharton County district attorney's office, said an investigation into Cerny's death was ongoing and that there would be no immediate comment on possible charges.
Pastor Bonny Hargrove, 47, who lives across the street from Bluntson's father, said she last saw Bluntson about two weeks ago. She expressed surprise at the turn of events.
"He had his head on straight. He was staying out of trouble. He seemed to be upbeat. He was a person who was determined, wanted to work and take care of his family. I can't believe this happened," said Hargrove, who added that she's lived in the neighborhood for six years and would see and talk with Bluntson and his father every so often.
"To hear him talk about his family and then to hear about this, it's still unbelievable. It's a horrible thing," she said.
Hargrove said that she'd heard that Bluntson and Cerny had been having problems and were no longer living together.
Cerny was last seen with her sons at church in El Campo on Sunday. Her father reported her missing Monday morning and investigators traced a lead to Laredo.
Baeza said police went to the hotel about midday Tuesday after receiving a call from El Campo police, saying the family might be in trouble.
The desk clerk directed officers to a room on the 14th floor, where they knocked, identified themselves as police and immediately heard several shots, Baeza said. One shot came through the room door and narrowly missed two officers, he said.
Police cleared the building, which was packed with people attending a convention, then entered the room and arrested Bluntson.
The toddler was declared dead at the scene, while his 6-year-old brother was hospitalized in critical condition.

Family: 6-year-old has died after police say he was shot by mother's boyfriend at Texas hotel
Boy, 6, dies of wounds after Texas hotel shooting

A 6-year-old boy has died after authorities say he was
shot by his mother's boyfriend at a South Texas hotel in an attack that
also killed his 1-year-old half-brother, a family member said Thursday.
Jaydin Thompson's great-aunt Dianne Cerny, who has been
speaking on behalf of the family since the Tuesday shooting, said the
boy was taken off life support Wednesday. Margaret Gallegos with
University Hospital in San Antonio said the boy died at 6:08 p.m.
Jaydin's 21-month-old half-brother, Davian Bluntson, was fatally shot in the Tuesday incident at a Laredo hotel.
Demond Bluntson, the younger boy's father, is charged with capital murder in
the Laredo shooting. The 36-year-old could face yet more charges in El
Campo where police believe he killed his 28-year-old girlfriend Brandy
Cerny _ the boys' mother _ and dumped her body at a property where his father lives.
El Campo police Chief Stanphill said a preliminary autopsy determined Brandy Cerny likely died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Cerny and her sons were last seen in church Sunday in El Campo. Her father
reported her missing Monday morning after she did not show up for work.
Dianne Cerny described Jaydin as being just like his mother.
"He always had an arm around someone especially his mom and little brother
and he was always laughing and smiling and loving life," she said Thursday.
On Tuesday morning, El Campo police called their
counterparts in Laredo to check on a lead that the family had checked
into a Laredo Holiday Inn. Laredo police said they later determined only
Bluntson and the boys had checked in.
Officers knocked on their room door about midday Tuesday and immediately heard several gunshots,
including one that just missed officers through the door.
Police say when they entered the room, they found Bluntson had shot and killed
Davian and wounded Jaydin. The boys' mother's body was found hours
later, in a green shack hidden among trees behind a small house and a mobile home, in El Campo.

Re: DAVIAN BLUNSTON - 21 Months & JAYDIN THOMPSON - 6 yo - El Campo TX
What a tragedy. A beautiful mom and her two adorable sons murdered in cold blood by their father. I hope this POS gets the death penalty. Well maybe life in prison would be better except them taxpayers have to pay for it. Maybe he should just off himself. That would have been the best thing for that ashhat to do instead of murdering innocent lives.
