Casey Anthony one year later: Reconciliation and doubt
A year after her acquittal in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee, the 26-year-old has been in hiding, but has reconciled with family even as public doubts remain.

Casey Anthony remembers her daughter Caylee with a rather grim memento - a necklace containing the 2-year-old’s ashes.

The 26-year-old’s mother, Cindy, gave Casey the token after the two reconciled last year, according to People Magazine.

Cindy reportedly wears an identical necklace.

“Casey told me it was the way the Anthony women would be together forever," Casey’s friend told the magazine.

Casey was acquitted of murder last summer in Florida after being accused of chloroforming and suffocating Caylee, then failing to report her missing until a month later.

Rumors have continued to swirl about Casey, who has been living in seclusion in the wake of her acquittal.

Casey has reportedly settled in West Palm Beach after moving around the state.

A friend told People that Casey has gained more than 20 pounds since she was last seen because she spends most of her time in front of a computer.

Casey spoke out for the first time since she released a video diary last fall in an interview with Piers Morgan last month.

She admitted that she was “ashamed” of herself but insisted that she was not responsible for the toddler’s death.

“If anything, there's nothing in this world I've ever been more proud of, and there's no one I loved more than my daughter,” Casey told Morgan in an off-camera interview. “She's my greatest accomplishment."

Jeff Ashton, a prosecutor in last year’s trial, told People that he doesn’t get “weepy at the thought of” Casey not enjoying herself in the years since Caylee’s death.

"She brought it all upon herself, and she has to live with it – which is incidentally a luxury that Caylee will never get," Ashton said.
