DAGAN GAMMON - 5 Months/ Accused: Steven Shockley - Eden NC

EDEN, N.C. — A Rockingham County man is facing murder charges in the death of a 5-month-old baby.

Police have charged 31-year-old Steven Lee Shockley of
Eden in the death of Dagan Matthew Gammon on June 5. Investigators say
Shockley was in a relationship with Gammon's mother at the time.

Police were called to Morehead Memorial Hospital on
June 2 to investigate a report of child abuse. Gammon was transferred to
the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem before he died.

Officials say the baby suffered head trauma consistent with child abuse.

Shockley turned himself into police Thursday and is
being held in the Rockingham County jail. It was unclear if he has an
attorney.
