Jose Baez will be featured in a big way on Sunday evening television.

Casey Anthony’s former attorney speaks in an MSNBC documentary, “Defending Casey Anthony,” at 9. In the program, the defense team looks back at the murder trial and Anthony’s acquittal of murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee. The documentary also features Adam Longo of Central Florida News 13 and Steve Helling of People magazine.

Baez then will be interviewed on “Geraldo at Large” at 10 on Fox News Channel. Baez has been promoting ”Presumed Guilty,” his book about the case and Anthony. Geraldo Rivera has given the book a rave, saying it is one of the best true crime books ever along with Vincent Bugliosi’s “Helter Skelter.” Fox News promotes the show as “explosive” and says Rivera “gets shocking insight” from Baez.

The Anthony case also figures prominently in “Central Florida Spotlight,” which repeats at 4 p.m. Sunday on WRDQ-Channel 27. WFTV-Channel 9 anchor Greg Warmoth moderates a discussion between state attorney candidates Jeff Ashton and Lawson Lamar. The election is Aug. 14.

Ashton says the Anthony prosecution team did the best it could. “For this jury, no, I don’t believe there’s anything that we could have done any different … that would have changed the verdict for that jury,” Ashton says.

Lamar says that it was inappropriate that Ashton laughed during Baez’s closing argument. About the verdict, Lamar says, “It’s a jury decision, and we don’t criticize jurors.”

Ashton counters: “Anyone who thinks that a smile changed the verdict is not being honest with the voters.”

Ashton describes the trial as “a grueling battle” and complains that Lamar wasn’t there for the team. “While we were fighting the battle, we were by ourselves,” Ashton tells Warmoth.

Lamar complains about Ashton’s demeanor during the trial but praises Ashton for “good forensic work.”
