"Baby John" BRAVO - 11 Months/ Accused: Mother-Barbara Bravo - Harlingen TX

Authorities are conducting an autopsy on an 11-month-old Harlingen baby
who died after allegedly being beaten by his own mother.
The baby boy was hospitalized at the Valley Baptist Medical Center on
Monday and spent several days in critical condition before passing away
on Friday evening.
Harlingen police told Action 4 News that
investigators are waiting for the boy's autopsy results to learn more
about the abuse he suffered before his death.
The boy's mother Barbara Bravo and her boyfriend Jesus Gonzalez remain behind bars under
$500,000 dollar bonds for injury to a child charges.
According to court records, Bravo is accused of allegedly injuring the child while
Gonzalez saw or knew about the abuse and failed to report it or stop it.
Investigators told Action 4 News that police are in contact
with the Cameron County District Attorney's Office about upgrading the
charges to murder or capital murder.
It's not clear if Bravo will be the only one to face the capital murder charge or if Gonzalez will be charged as well.
Funeral arrangements cannot be made until after the boy's body has been released from custody.
