Deputies continue search for missing 11-year-old boy

Deputies are searching for an 11-year-old boy who went missing
Monday, according to Deputy Tom Peine with Pima County Sheriff's
Department. As of late Monday, 50 deputies were involved in the search.

Peine told KGUN9 News Larry Avila did not return from school and was
last seen at Valencia Middle School, where he's a student. Valencia
Middle School is located at 4400 West Irvington Road.

Avila is described as a Hispanic male, skinny, about 4'3'' tall, with
brown hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing his school uniform,
which is a blue shirt and brown shorts.

Peine said deputies are actively searching for Avila and are
conducting a thorough search of TUSD school buses. The initial search
focused heavily on Avila's school and home, which is in the Tucson
Estates area.
The department also deployed a plane equipped with an infrared camera
to search the desert area around the family home, which is on West
Delfina Drive.

Boy found safe after 14 hour search

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Pima County Sheriff's
Department reports that Larry Avila, 11 has been found. His family
reported him missing Monday afternoon after he did not return home from
school.

Authorities say they found Avila at a
friend's home a mile from Valencia Middle School. A neighbor reportedly
saw him and called 911.

Investigators say Avila told them he thought
he called his mother to tell her he was staying at the friends home.
Authorities say he did call someone, but it may have been the wrong
number.
