SALLISAW, Oklahoma -
Police arrested a Sallisaw woman for trying to sell her own children. She allegedly made the deal on Facebook.

Not only is the woman accused of trying to sell her two young kids, she was allegedly hoping to use that money to get her boyfriend out of jail.

Investigators who work these kinds of human trafficking cases say this one is rare, but it's a crime that's becoming more common on social networking sites.

Desperate for money, this 22-year-old Sallisaw woman allegedly does the unthinkable.

Police say Misty VanHorn tried to sell her 2-year-old and 10-month-old children. Investigators say she contacted an Arkansas woman on Facebook.

In the message she offered up her 2-year-old, saying, "Just come to Sallisaw. It's only 30 minutes away and I give you all her stuff and let y'all have her forever for $1,000. But I have to have it before next week."

VanHorn went on to say she needed the money to bond her boyfriend out of jail.

"It's very disturbing to hear of a case like this, and certainly very very tragic that somebody would treat their own children like a commodity," Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics spokesman Mark Woodward said.

The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics Human Trafficking Unit investigates these kinds of cases.

Spokesman Mark Woodward says more of them are happening online.

"A lot of the deals, interaction, conversations will take place on social network sites where people can basically hide behind a computer screen, and they can hide their identity," Woodward said.

In VanHorn's case, an acquaintance went to DHS, and she was arrested by Sallisaw police.

Van Horn is in the Sequoyah County Jail on a complaint of trafficking children,

She's being held on a $40,000 bond, and her two children are now in state custody.

The case has been turned over to the District Attorney.
