OCEAN SHORES, Wash. — Police have located and interviewed the birth mom of a
newborn baby found deceased in a wooded area of Ocean Shores Friday
night.

Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Myers said that a citizen’s tip lead police to the mom’s home in Grays Harbor County.

Police are now in the process of obtaining a search warrant to enter a motel room, where the infant was reportedly born.

Myers said that a woman walking her dog in the 200 block of Fisher
Avenue NE around 6 p.m. Friday noticed a rag handing from a tree branch
in a wooded lot. The woman moved closer and spotted the body of the
newborn baby. Police and paramedics responded; medics determined that the infant was dead.

Myers said that the baby appeared to have been recently delivered,
and the body was dumped in the woods. Police want to find the mother of
the infant because they are worried that she may need medical
assistance. The Grays Harbor Coroner will perform an autopsy on the
infant’s body.

Ocean Shores Police Department, along with Hoquiam Police and Grays
Harbor Sheriff’s Department are investigating the infant’s death.

Police have a tipline for anyone with information about the death at (360) 289-1263.

BABY FOUND DEAD AT OCEAN SHORES WAS MURDERED
Says coroner
April 08, 2013

(OCEAN SHORES, WA) -- The Grays Harbor County coroner's office says the death of a newborn child at Ocean Shores has been ruled a homicide, following an autopsy over the weekend that the infant died as the result of blunt force injury to the head.

The baby's body was found in some brush along Fisher Avenue in Ocean Shores on Friday by a woman who was out walking her dogs.

The woman first saw a bloody washcloth hanging from a nearby tree branch and went to look closer.

The autopsy determined the infant died from skull fractures and brain injuries.

Acting on a tip police found and brought in for questioning the next day the child's 21-year-old birth mother and her boyfriend.

No arrests were made over the weekend in the case.

Police believe the child was born at a motel in Ocean Shores then sometime later brought to the location where the body was found.

OCEAN SHORES, Wash. - A Grays Harbor woman and her
boyfriend are in custody for investigation of the death of her newborn
baby in Ocean Shores.

Brittany Taylor and Patrick Parnel, both 21, were booked into the Grays Harbor county jail.

The Grays Harbor Coroner said Sunday that the newborn girl found
dumped in a wooded area in Ocean Shores on Friday died as a result of
skull fractures and brain injuries due to blunt force injury to the head.

According to police, a woman walking her dog spotted a rag hanging
from brush and became suspicious. She looked closer and spotted the
infant with obvious signs of injuries.

Police said tips from media coverage led them to the nearby Oasis
Motel, where it’s believed the baby was born. Detectives found the
21-year-old mother and her boyfriend there.

Just makes my soul cry. tears Why kill a little baby girl? I would love to have a little baby girl. Even if she was not my own. I shed a tear for this little angel. We need a national death penalty for the deliberate killing of a child. William
