A 4-year-old boy died after being found unconscious in the care of a baby-sitter in a Hell’s Kitchen apartment Wednesday — and his body was marked by cigarette burns and defensive wounds, police sources said.

Police found Myles Dobson unresponsive when they arrived at the apartment in the Ritz Plaza, a luxury doorman building on W. 48th St., near Eighth Ave., following a 911 call at 10:50 a.m., police said.

The boy was pronounced dead at St. Luke’s Hospital.


The baby-sitter, a 37-year-old woman, was interviewed by detectives for several hours, the sources said.

The caregiver, who lives in the building — where two-bedroom rentals start at $5,295 a month, according to the building’s website — told police she had placed Myles on a counter in the bathroom, then left the room briefly, the sources said.

She said she heard a noise, ran back into the bathroom, and found the boy in the tub, unconscious, the sources said.

There was no water in the tub, sources said.

Investigators had questions about the woman’s story, because the child’s skin was pocked with burns that were consistent with being poked with a lit cigarette, and his body had wounds that appeared to have been sustained while he tried to defend himself, sources said.

His body was also bruised, the sources said.

A 4-year-old boy suffered mortal injuries Wednesday while being looked after by a babysitter at an apartment building (shown) on W. 48th St., police said.

“It looks like we’re going to charge her,” a police source told the Daily News, cautioning that a decision had not been made because the investigation had just begun. “It’s too early.”

Myles had lived at the residence since December, police said. It was not clear who his legal guardian was.


Officials at the city Administration for Children’s Services, which has previously investigated complaints involving the boy, according to police sources, were also looking into Myles’ death.

The child’s mother previously lost custody, police sources said. Custody was then granted to the child’s father, Okee Wade, 37, who was later imprisoned in New Jersey and remains behind bars, sources said.

Residents of the apartment building were stunned by the tragedy.

“I have a baby, too . . . that’s scary,” a woman who was pushing a child in a stroller told The News outside of the building. The woman, who said she was a tenant, added that building officials had not told residents anything about the child’s death. “They just said there’s a police investigation,” she said. Daddy made a call from jail, a call that ultimately condemned his 4-year-old son to death — a death that brought an end to days of beatings and torture.

Let down by his mother, and then by his father, little Myls Dobson found himself in the care of his dad’s new girlfriend, Kryzie King, 27, in a luxury Hell’s Kitchen apartment.

It was a living hell.

Myls had a host of loving relatives who would have taken him in, but his father chose a woman his family barely knew, who beat the boy with a belt, making sure the buckle struck his head, police sources and Myls’ relatives said.

In the apartment in The Ritz Plaza on W. 48th St. that his father thought was so great, Myls was also whipped with a clothes hanger by King, cop sources said.

On Wednesday, the last day of his tragic life, Myls asked King to go to McDonald’s. Instead, he was beaten and locked in a bathroom — a punishment that he’d endured before, along with many others that were just as evil, or perhaps even worse.

When paramedics rushed inside the apartment that day, responding to a 911 call placed by King, they found Myls unconscious, his small, battered body covered in cigarette burns, his torso and legs marred by bruises, police sources said. One of his front teeth had been knocked out. He died at a Manhattan hospital not long after his arrival.

Okee Wade, father of 4-year-old Myls Dobson — who allegedly died at Wade's girlfriend's hands — was arrested in Brooklyn on Dec. 19 on a warrant issued after he failed to show up in court on charges that he took part in a bank fraud scheme.

“Why? Why? Why?” Myls’ mother, Ashlee Dobson, 29, asked when she first saw his brutalized body, according to her lawyer. “How could this happen?”

King was led out of the Midtown North stationhouse after she was charged Thursday night with first-degree assault and reckless endangerment. The despondent King kept her head down and said nothing to reporters as she was dragged away in cuffs, wearing gray sweatpants and a snorkel jacket with the hood up to shield her face.

She told cops the boy had suffered fatal injuries by falling off a counter and landing in an empty bathtub when she was briefly out of the room. But the truth was written across Myls’ broken body.

“This was a tragic, tragic death of a little boy,” Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said Thursday.

King, who began dating Myls’ father, Okee Wade, just a few months ago, first took Myls into her home Dec. 21. She told police that on that day she picked him up from a cousin’s home in Canarsie, Brooklyn, after Wade called her from jail and asked her to take care of him, sources said.

Two days earlier, on Dec. 19, Wade, 37, was arrested in Brooklyn on a warrant that was issued after he failed to show up in court on charges that he took part in a bank fraud scheme in New Jersey.

The 5-foot-10, 230-pound King — who also sports a Mickey Mouse tattoo on her body — admitted to police that she had beaten Myls with a belt and hanger because she was using corporal punishment in “trying to control him,” police sources said. He had been acting up, she claimed.

King — who also went by the alias “Monroe” according to court records — slammed Myls’ head against a wall, knocking out his tooth, sources said. And she told cops she locked him in the bathroom when he wouldn’t behave.

“This is a horrific incident,” Bratton said. “He received injuries over a number of days.”

The medical examiner performed an autopsy Thursday, but more tests will be needed before a cause of death can be established, officials said. Charges may be upgraded depending on the results, sources said.

Myls’ devastated relatives told the Daily News that the boy fell through the cracks of the family network after his father’s arrest. An aunt and uncle of the boy’s in Brooklyn thought the chubby-faced tot was staying with cousins, while Myls’ mother — who lost custody of him in 2012 due to neglect — and her family believed he was still with his father.

In reality, Wade was thrown in jail in New Jersey after his arrest. He’s charged with second-degree counts of conspiracy and money laundering for his alleged role in withdrawing at Atlantic City casinos more than $275,000 from people’s bank accounts.

Instead of calling his immediate family to care for Myls, Wade called his new girlfriend, his family said. The family also did not know Wade was dating King, nor that she was a transgendered woman.

The abuse started soon after King took Myls in, likely around Dec. 26, cops told relatives. “[King] told detectives that [Myls] was asking for McDonald’s and she beat him with a belt buckle over his head. There were cigarette burns all over his body. She always beat him with a belt buckle,” said Josiah Ceessar, 35, the husband of Myls’ aunt, Orquidia Wade.

Ceessar said Wade had just met King and bragged about his new girlfriend’s swanky apartment. “[Okee] just was telling everybody about this nice girl he met. She had a lot of money and had a nice apartment on 48th St. in Manhattan. Nobody knew her,” Ceessar said.

Myls’ paternal grandmother, Gloria Wade, 60, said the boy lived with his mother in South Carolina for a few years after his birth in April 2009. Dobson has mental disabilities and isn’t always stable, family members said.

“She was caught on a videotape in a parking lot outside a store in South Carolina beating him and child services started an investigation,” said the heartbroken grandmother.

Dobson fled investigators by moving to Brooklyn, where she has relatives, Gloria Wade said.

According to the city’s Administration for Children’s Services, Dobson was investigated in January 2011 for inadequate care of her child. The claim was dismissed. The same allegation against Dobson was made in September 2011. ACS investigators found reason to remove Myls from her custody in October 2012 and place him with his father.

“I don’t know why ACS wasn’t involved more,” Gloria Wade said.

ACS has said only that it is investigating the boy’s death.

Police told Okee Wade in jail Thursday morning about his son’s death.

Ashlee Dobson, who lives in Harlem, identified her son’s body at the morgue Thursday. Her lawyer, Philip Lights, said she was inconsolable, screaming, and cried the entire time.

Mayor orders investigation into little boy's death

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Mayor Bill de Blasio has ordered a full investigation into the death of 4-year old Myls Dobson, who police say was severely abused by his caregiver.

27-year-old Kryzie King was arraigned Friday on multiple counts of assault and reckless endangerment.

She stared down at the floor as prosecutors described how she admitted to torturing the child.

Myls Dobson arrived at the Ritz Plaza apartments a healthy, smiling, 50-pound little boy.

But over three weeks at the hands of the 231-pound transgendered woman seasoned investigators call a savage, he died a sadistic, tortured death.

During a 12-hour interrogation, Kryzie King told astonished detectives how she brutalized the little boy, whom she'd agreed to watch for a few hours when his dad, her boyfriend, dropped him off.

But when hours stretched to days, and weeks, she said the boy stopped eat, so she hit him with a belt and an electrical cord.

She took the rack from a hot oven and held it against his leg.

She tied him to a chair and gagged his mouth.

Then, on Tuesday evening when it was nine degrees with a wind chill of minus 15, King told investigators she locked the 4-year-old on her 11th floor balcony wearing only a t-shirt and boxers for close to an hour.

And then, locked him in her bathroom in the dark.

By Wednesday, cops say Myls had lost more than 20 pounds, when King told police she watched his eyes flutter, as he took his last breaths.

Even then, she waited as long as an hour before calling 911.

"My client is presumed innocent throughout all of these proceedings. And that's the position we're taking. It's an ongoing investigation and nobody should rush to judgment at this early stage of this case," said Bryan Konoski, a defense attorney.
Adding to the tragedy, Myls' family picture. His dad O'Kee Wade never came back for him because he'd been arrested in New Jersey, on fraud charges.

His mother Ashlee lost custody three years ago while she was living in a homeless shelter.

Lately, she says, she'd been trying to get him back.

"I always wanted the best for my son. He was my baby," said Ashlee Dobson, the victim's mother.

The devastated mother broke down several times Friday at a news conference with family advisors. Sources familiar with the case tell Eyewitness News Ashley Dobson lost custody of the child in 2011 because of abuse and neglect allegations.

"This woman was in a financial situation that did not work out. She was not able to care for her child. The city of New York thought it best to put the child in the care of the father who was a convicted felon," said Tony Herbert, the mother's advisor.

Myls' mother says she last saw her child in November and he seemed fine. The boy's father, 32-year-old O'Kee Wade, a convicted felon, had custody. But after a new arrest in mid-December, he reportedly left Myls with his lover, transgender performer Kryzie King.

"This mother loved her child. She was working to get him back," Herbert said.

"I loved my son, he would give me kisses, I would tell him I loved him and he would say, 'I love you too, Mommy.' I said, 'Myls, I love you too baby,'" Dobson said.

"It's a tragic, tragic death of that young boy, horrific injuries sustained over a period of days," said Police Commissioner William Bratton.


The family says the father is on suicide watch.

Dobson lives in South Carolina, and on Thursday posted Facebook pictures of her son with the words "Mommy love you Myls. Rest in peace baby".

Investigators believe all the abuse suffered by Myls was at the hands of King, even though she only had custody since Dec. 18.

The father gained custody in 2011 following a custody dispute with his mother. She was facing abuse allegations in another state and threatened to kill herself in Brooklyn.

ACS assigned a case worker to the father for a year but pulled the worker in 2012 based on a lack of evidence.

Transgender babysitter charged with murder in boy’s death

The transgender babysitter accused of torturing to death a 4-year-old boy was ​hit with​ ​​an upgraded charge of murder.

The new charge against Kryzie King comes after the ​city Medical Examiner’s Office ruled last April that the death of little Myls Dobson — who was found emaciated and covered in bruises and burn marks Jan. 8 inside the sitter’s luxury Midtown apartment — was a homicide.

“The grand jury has charged this defendant with murder in the second degree,” said Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Nicole Blumberg before Justice Robert Stolz.

The new indictment against King also charges her with seven counts of felony assault and one count of attempted assault relating to the tragic death.

She faces 25-years-to-life in prison on the top charge.

“Not guilty,” King muttered softly in ​Manhattan Supreme Court Thursday when asked to plea to the new raps. The twisted sitter, sporting a five o’clock shadow and corn rows, wore a gray t-shirt and sweats.

King, 27, allegedly admitted to police she viciously beat the boy because he was misbehaving and locked him outside on an 11th-floor terrace in his underwear for nearly an hour in the freezing cold.

King became Dobson’s caretaker when his father and her former boyfriend, Okee Wade, was locked up in a New Jersey jail. The child’s mother had lost custody for abusing him.

“I just hope Myls is OK ’cause this li’l boy has been through a lot over the years,” King told cops before she knew he was dead. “Just want what best for him ’cause he a good child, just had the wrong mom and dad.”

The Jamaican-born King had a sex change when she was 18 she told cops, according to court papers.

King is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail on Riker’s Island in an infirmary for an undisclosed illness.

The deranged baby-sitter accused of torturing 4-year-old Myls Dobson to death last January is not expected to use a psychiatric defense at trial, her attorney said Wednesday.

Kryzie King has been examined by a defense expert, and the result is that a psych defense is not viable, attorney Bryan Konoski suggested in Manhattan Supreme Court. “That aspect of the case seems to be concluded on the defense end,” he said.

Konoski is also seeking the child’s Adminstration for Children’s Services records to determine whether Myls suffered abuse by anyone else.

The case was adjourned to February, and a trial date has not yet been set.
