Baton Rouge Man Pleads in Infant's Death
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A 22-year-old Baton Rouge man who was accused of shaking his 8-week-old son to death in 2006 has pleaded guilty to negligent homicide charges and avoided prison time.
Under the terms of a plea bargain agreement, state District Judge Chip Moore placed Derwin Oubre on active supervised probation for five years.
Moore warned Oubre on Thursday he will put him in prison for 10 years if Oubre does anything that causes the judge to revoke his probation.
Oubre faced an automatic sentence of life in prison if convicted as originally charged of second-degree murder.
