Wisconsin man charged with tying up toddler, leaving him in dog cage

APPLETON (WKOW) -- A Wisconsin man is accused of hitting his two-year-old son, tying him up and putting him in a dog cage.

Michael Kitzman, 34, of Little Chute, faces felony child abuse charges, according to WLUK-TV. Police say Kitzman admitted losing his temper and hitting the toddler. The abuse left bruises on the boy.

Police say Kitzman then tied the toddler's legs and arms with clothing and left him for about 45 minutes, then untied him and put him in a dog kennel in a dark room.

WLUK reports a criminal complaint says Kitzman admitted to the abuse and says he "just lost it."

Father sentenced in child abuse case

APPLETON – A Fox Valley father convicted of tying up his two-year-old son and putting him in a dog cage has learned his punishment.

Michael Kitzman was sentenced Thursday to two years in prison and three years extended supervision.

According to the criminal complaint, Kitzman told police he lost his temper when his son gave a sibling’s toy to the family dog.

The court documents go onto say Kitzman tied the toddler’s arms and legs and left him for about 45 minutes, before putting the boy in a dog kennel.
