Mother charged with abusing her 5 kids

NEW FAIRFIELD, CT (WFSB) - A 27-year-old mother is accused of abusing her five children at their home in New Fairfield and now, authorities have stepped in to remove the kids from the residence.
Alexandra Aucapina, of New Fairfield, turned herself into police on Tuesday after there were reports of "the children being the victims of varying levels of abuse."
Officials from the Connecticut Department of Children and Families removed the five children from residence.
Aucapina was charged with five counts of risk of injury to a minor and one count of second-degree assault as well as two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree unlawful restraint and cruelty to a child.
Police have searched for the home and gathered evidence while DCF officials conducted additional interviews.
After being released on a $25,000 bond, Aucapina will be arraigned at Danbury Superior Court on Wednesday.
