A Frederick man was one of three men arrested
last week by Wicomico County authorities, accused of luring a
14-year-old girl to a hotel and sexually assaulting her over three
days, according to the Fruitland Police Department.
Anthony Jerome Anderson, 36, was being held Saturday in lieu of
$200,000 bail at the Wicomico County Detention Center, authorities said.
Listed as a child sex offender on the state's sex offender registry,
Anderson was charged with third- and fourth-degree sex offense,
perverted practice and prostitution of a child under 16, according to
court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 3 in Wicomico County District Court.
Anderson and the two others are accused of performing sex acts on
the Crisfield girl at the Hampton Inn in Fruitland from the early hours
of Monday until about noon Wednesday, police said.
Authorities were notified Wednesday that the girl, reported missing by a family member Monday, had been found.
Anderson and Douglas O'Neil Bailey, 33, of Washington, were arrested Thursday at the hotel, police said.
Roberto Junior Romero, 29, of Hyattsville, was apprehended Friday in
Prince George's County by the fugitive apprehension unit of the
Maryland State Police.
On Saturday, officials at the Fruitland Police Department said they
had no further details about how the girl was found Wednesday or the
apprehension of the three suspects. Detective Howard Taylor, who
handled the investigation, was unavailable for comment.
The girl was released after receiving treatment at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Anderson's criminal history in Frederick County dates back to 1991,
when he was convicted of having a handgun in a vehicle, according to
court documents.
In 1992, Anderson was convicted of obstructing and hindering, being
disorderly in public and second-degree rape, the documents state.
In October 1992, Frederick County Circuit Court Judge G. Edward
Dwyer Jr. ordered Anderson to serve 12 years of a 20-year sentence in
the Maryland Division of Correction for the rape.
He was released in February 2001, documents show.
In 2004, Anderson was convicted of felony malicious destruction of property, court documents state.

FRUITLAND, Md.- Three men are facing multiple charges after being accused of having sex with an underage girl at a Fruitland hotel. Fruitland
police say that on Wednesday, July 8, officers were notified that a
girl who had been reported as missing on Monday, July 6 had been
located. During an interview with the law enforcement agency that took
the original missing person report, officers were told that the girl
had been at a hotel in Fruitland in the company of three men from the
early morning hours of Monday, July 6 until approximately noon of
Wednesday, July 8. Police say investigators learned that
during the above period time the girl was with the three men,
prohibited acts of a sexual nature were committed and the girl was
taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Subsequent
interviews and a follow-up investigation led police to obtain arrest
warrants for the three men in question. Two of the suspects,
36-year-old Anthony Jerome Anderson of Frederick, Md., and 33-year-old Douglas O'Neil Bailey
of Washington, D.C., were located at the hotel and taken into
custody. They each were arrested for third- and fourth-degree sex
offense and related charges. They were both turned over to the custody
of Wicomico County Central Booking. A third suspect in the case, 29-year-old Roberto Junior Romero
of Hyattsville, Md., fled the scene and remains at-large. When
captured, he will be charged with the same offenses as the other two
suspects.
