ELISA ROBERSON - 13 yo (1989) - Aransas Pass TX

Twenty years after an Aransas Pass teenager went missing, a memorial
marker has been placed in a location where she disappeared. Her sister
said she did it to add some closure to what has been a nightmare for
her family.
The woman came back to Aransas Pass for
the first time since she moved away 18 years ago. She's hoping this
marker will turn up more leads in this case.
"I just remember we did everything together," said Ruby Messerli, the sister of Elisa Roberson.
Messerli,
32, remembers Roberson, like she was still alive. Twenty years ago, the
13-year-old girl disappeared in Aransas Pass in front of Kieberger
Elementary School, never to be seen again.
So after all these years, her mission was to put up this memorial marker.
"I
decided a year ago today that I needed a place for Elisa," Messerli
said. "I thought 20 years and it's been too long. We've never had
anything to remember her by."
Messerli reports
Roberson left her house a few blocks away to meet a friend on a summer
afternoon. It's believed she was kidnapped and murdered. We showed her
sister where tracking dogs followed her scent and lost it.
"It's
more important to find remains," said Messerli. "I know that's a touchy
subject. I know she's no longer here, but to be able to put them to
rest."
Her family left the Coastal Bend in 1991 after
Roberson's disappearance. It's her first trip back and she's glad they
allowed her family to put the marker here
"This is
something I needed to do," Messerli said. "Yeah, it's been emotional.
It's been overwhelming, mixed feelings. It's been a good thing for us,
for me."
Even though Roberson went missing 20 years
ago today, police investigators said it's still one of their active
cases and it's one of their top priorities to get this case solved.
"As
of right now, we're still looking to talk to several people, trying to
locate them, but as far as anything else, it's still pending," Captain
Robert Gonzales of the Aransas Pass Police Department.
Her family still holds out hope an arrest will be made.
"I
do believe that time is coming," said Messerli. "I know with all this
publicity, that helps get it out there and to make people talk and find
closure as well."

ID Info - NCIC #M-464573883. Elisa is a Hispanic female, 5'2" tall, weighs 120 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes. She has a three inch scar on right thigh. She was last seen wearing a blue Mickey Mouse t-shirt, dark blue culottes and tennis shoes.
Circumstances - Elisa disappeared after leaving her home to go to a friend's house. She called her friend to tell her she was on the way but Elisa never arrived at the friend's home.
