"Baby Girl" ROGERS - Newborn -(2008) Florissant IL

A 19-year-old woman has been charged with
second-degree murder and first-degree endangering the welfare of a
child for allegedly killing her newborn daughter, according to police
and the warrant.
Towanda K. Rogers, of an unincorporated area of St. Louis County
near Florissant, is accused of putting her baby girl outside in the
backyard in the middle of winter, then leaving her there to die, police
said.
Rogers was charged last week. She was arraigned in St. Louis County Circuit Court on Monday.
The baby girl was born on Christmas Day 2008, and was found dead in the backyard by police officers two days later.
Rogers is accused of wrapping her newborn baby girl in a blanket and
putting her outside in the cold in the backyard of her house in the
2300 block of Millvalley Drive, St. Louis County police said. The house
is located in an area northwest of Shackelford Road.
Police were contacted by a nurse at a nearby medical center after
the nurse became concerned about Rogers’ wellbeing and the safety of
her unborn or newborn child, police said.
Rogers allegedly led officers to the body of the baby girl when
police arrived at the home to investigate. The teen lived at the home
with her parents, who are not charged with any crime.
Rogers is being held at the St. Louis County jail on $50,000 bond.
