Police officers have been forced to scale back their search due to the dense
wilderness of the 300 square mile area. Celina is described as a white
female, 5'7", 120 pounds with green and blonde hair.

After nearly three weeks an unofficial search continues in Utah for a Henderson teenager. 18-year-old Celina Roye was last seen August fifth when she went on a day-hike in Green Canyon, just Northeast of Logan, Utah. Action
News Anchor, Tiffani Sargent spoke with Roye's mother who says no
matter what, she won't give up searching for her daughter. Celina's mother says her daughter also goes by the online screen name of "Nebula". She says she loves animals and nature and may have gotten in "over her head", thinking she could survive in the wilderness. Celina's mother says, "I don't know where she could be, I don't know if she's alive or dead at this point." Tiffani
Sargent asked, "Do you think that she got in over head, you think that
she thought it would be a lot easier to go through the wilderness and
maybe found herself in some trouble right away?"Janice Roye replies,
"Yeah I really belive that." Still Cache County authorities say it's possible that Celina could be hiding out or running away from home. Tiffani
said, "Now I have to ask these questions, because many say she's 18,
and she could be out there on her own will, is it possible she doesn't
want to be found?" Celina's mother answered, "I don't think
she ever planned being gone this long, you know without taking a tent
and a sleeping bag...."I really think she wants to be found." Cache
County Sheiff's deputies say the problem is, that there's 300 square
miles to search and 25% of it is dense wilderness. Without any strong
leads, they've been forced to scale back their search. That's exactly why, Janice is relying on volunteers to help re-trace the path, where dogs lost her daughter's scent. She says, "We're going to go in, three days deep and see if we can recover her somehow." Celina is described as being a white female, who stands 5'7", and weighs about 120 pounds. Her hair is green and blonde and she is traveling with a wolf/Shepard mix puppy named Gerome (pronounced jer-o-mee). Celina
was last seen wearing green pants, a green t-shirt and a wolf pendant,
she may also be wearing a tan-colored down-filled, hooded jacket with
grey fur. If you have any information on the whereabouts of Celina please call the Cache County Sheriff's Office at (435) 755-1000. Or you can leave an email at findCelina@yahoo.com

Dean Roye’s daughter, Andrea Celina, grew up a fan of the outdoors and
was looking forward to a solo hike in Utah’s Green Canyon.“She
waited until she turned 18 so she could do without us saying no,” the
Henderson father said. “I [told her] nature is an unforgiving
situation, not a television show.”Roye’s boyfriend dropped her off at Green Canyon Aug. 6. That was the last time anyone saw her.

“Your mind tortures itself thinking every worst thing could happen,” her father said. “Really, it becomes your best friend or your worst enemy.”
Cache County sheriff's deputies suspended their search for Roye Aug.
17, saying it was possible the teen doesn’t want to be found. They
altered that statement Tuesday, saying they don’t think she left the
area and don’t believe anyone could have survived in the wilderness for
such a lengthy period. But the search won’t resume until there is some
evidence that she is in Green Canyon.Roye’s father said the girl
took a GPS navigation system, a camera and some food for the trip. He
still holds out hope that she will be found.“We hope you’re still alive. We’re still looking for you. Hang in there until someone can find you,” he said.

The volunteer search for 18-year old Celina Roye continues this
weekend. The formal search by Cache County Search and Rescue was
suspended on August 17 so Roye's family has been organizing their own
search efforts since.

Volunteer searchers and others in the
backcountry are being encouraged to focus their efforts on the
Cottonwood Creek Canyon area of Northern Utah's backcountry. Janice
Roye believes that Celina is either located there or in Water Canyon.

"If she's on that mountain, she's not alive," Roye says. "I need to prove
to myself that she is there, or isn't there," Roye says.

While conducting their own search nearly two weeks ago, Janice and her son
Will felt strongly that Celina is located in the Cottonwood Creek
Canyon area but could not reach it at the time because of darkness and
lack of resources.

Will spent an additional week conducting
his own search recently without turning up any other substantial leads.
He spent time in Green Canyon, Juniper trail, Mt. Elmer, Water Canyon
and toward Tony Grove.

Roye has been communicating with
volunteer searchers via email and says there are several from the Logan
area and Star Valley, Wyoming that will be conducting searches this
weekend and a group from the Las Vegas area will be coming up on Monday.

"If anyone wants a map of the areas we are searching, or if they have
searched an area, send an email to findcelina@yahoo.com," explained
Roye, "and we will compile a master map with the areas that have
already been searched."

In an email to volunteers, Roye provides details about search plans:

"Unless new information should arise, we will ask hikers to enter Water Canyon
at the Green Canyon's inner most point. Starting at the Southwest rim
of Water Canyon, following up any water flow, creek, steam, spring, etc.

"Also, members of the search will follow rims and ridges looking for natural
places of shelter. These natural shelters could include such sites as
caves, rocky overhangs, even small rocky openings fit for Celina and
her dog to take cover in rain or cold weather.

"We have reason to believe Celina may have hiked to an elevation between 5900 and 7000
on the southwest rim of Water Canyon and may still be there."

Roye has also offered additional details about Celina's boyfriend and
Celina's time in Utah. The Roye family has known the boyfriend since he
was 13 and he lived in their home for about a year-and-a-half. Celina
came to Logan on July 17th to be with her boyfriend after he recently
moved here. Celina was scheduled to go back to Henderson, Nevada on
August 20th for classes.

According to Roye, the boyfriend has
not been willing to assist in the search and has told the family that
they are wasting their time.

For anyone wanting to assist in the
search, they can communicate with the Roye family by sending an email
to findcelina@yahoo.com. The family is also seeking financial support
after several trips back and forth from Henderson, Nevada and
purchasing supplies. A fund has been set up at all Wells Fargo banks.

CELINA ROYE - 18 yo - Henderson NV / Last seen Utah Empty Celina - FOUND - Possible Suicide

Post by TomTerrific0420 Mon Aug 31, 2009 4:28 pm

The body of Andrea Celina Roye, the 18-year-old woman who was reported
missing earlier this month in the Northern Utah mountains, was found by
search crews Sunday night.

Members of the Cache Sheriff's Search
and Rescue team found the body at about 5 p.m. Sunday. Her body was
found about 150 yards up a draw just off the Beirdneau trail about a
half to three quarters of a mile from the trail head in Green Canyon,
Cache Sheriff's Lt. Matt Bilodeau said in a press release Monday
morning.

The Sheriff's Office's communications center took a
call from a couple of hikers that were in the area, Bilodeau said, and
they reported a suspicious odor while on the trail. When rescue crews
were dispatched to the area, they found Roye's body.

Based on
evidence at the scene, according to the press release, the death
appeared to be a suicide, however an official determination will be
made by the medical examiner's office. As of Monday morning the family
was notified.

"We will do what we can to try and support the
family as they try and deal with this tragedy," said Cache County
Sheriff Lynn Nelson. "I really appreciate all of the time and efforts
given by the volunteers of the Search and Rescue team. This has been a
very long and trying search."

The case is still open and under investigation, the press release noted.

CELINA ROYE - 18 yo - Henderson NV / Last seen Utah Empty Re: CELINA ROYE - 18 yo - Henderson NV / Last seen Utah

Post by TomTerrific0420 Tue Sep 01, 2009 2:51 am

The body of 18-year-old Celina Roye was found around 5 p.m.
Sunday after hikers reported a suspicious odor on the Beirdneau trail
about one-half to three-quarters of a mile from that trailhead in Green
Canyon, sheriff officials say.

Search and rescuers were
dispatched to the area to investigate and found the teen’s body in a
heavily wooded area. Evidence at the scene suggests Roye’s death was
suicide related, a press statement released Monday morning said.
Sheriff’s Lt. Matt Bilodeau called the incident an “obvious suicide.”

“Celina’s
body was found about 150 yards up a draw just off the Beirdneau trail,”
the statement reads. “Our communications center took a call from a
couple of hikers that were in that area. They reported a suspicious
odor while on that trail.”

The Beirdneau trail starts about 2 miles from the mouth of Green Canyon, which is accessible from North Logan’s 1900 North.

Roye’s
mother, Janice Roye, said Monday morning she was leaving Henderson,
Nev., to travel to Cache County to visit the site where her daughter
was found. Roye said she was reluctant to believe her daughter was
suicidal.

“I’m sure she slipped and fell,” said Roye. “She hurt
her neck or got hung up on a limb or something. But I’m going to the
site where she was found today.”

Roye’s body has been sent to the state medical examiner’s office.

Sheriff
Lynn Nelson said his office will support the family as they deal with
this tragedy. “I really appreciate all of the time and efforts given by
the volunteers of the Search and Rescue team,” he said. “This has been
a very long and trying search.”

Bilodeau said when search and
rescue teams went into the area they spotted Roye’s dog, which bolted
from the area where she was found.

“It has been with the body
the whole time,” said Bilodeau. “It’s just stayed away from us
completely. It’s probably hungry and dehydrated, and hopefully it will
come down. We’ll try to recover the dog for the family because that’s
their wish.”

Roye, of Henderson, Nev., was reported missing Aug.
6 after going alone into Green Canyon with her 4-month-old dog.
Officials used infrared technology, search dogs and helicopters to
search the area for 10 days before formally discontinuing the search on
Aug. 17. Bilodeau said searchers have returned to the area multiple
times since then to revisit areas they felt they may have missed.

“These
guys are extremely dedicated,” he said. “They weren’t going to give up
until they had found her or learned she was discovered somewhere else.”

Bilodeau said the active search effort, which involved law enforcement in neighboring states, has been called off.

The
case is still under investigation, and officials stressed that only a
medical examiner can determine the exact cause of death.
