A 15-year-old
girl kidnapped during a fatal shooting returned home uninjured Monday
night, Fort Worth police said. An Amber Alert for Mirella
Collazo was canceled, and police said kidnapping suspect Larry Sigala,
16, was in custody. Police have said he and another man
are also suspected in the shooting of 20-year-old Juan Mejia-Alanis on
Sunday night. He died Monday morning. Mejia-Alanis was
shot about 7:30 p.m. as he sat in a vehicle with Mirella outside her
home in the 4400 block of Merida Avenue near West Seminary Drive and
McCart Avenue, police said. Witnesses told police two men
approached the vehicle in front of Mirella's house, shot Mejia-Alanis
and then forced Mirella into a pickup truck, which was later recovered.
Detailed information on the other suspect was not
available, and it was unclear what charges Sigala might face.

FORT WORTH — A 15-year-old girl who police said was kidnapped moments after a friend was shot and killed returned home safely Monday night.
Mirella Collazo's ex-boyfriend was in police custody.
Family members didn't even know if Mirella was alive after she was abducted on Sunday night. Then — around 7 p.m. Monday — they got a call from the alleged kidnapper's family who said Mirella was being released.
"They went looking for her and they found her around the corner... just walking," said Mirella's cousin, who asked not to be identified.
It was then time for an emotional reunion. "My mom started crying and we all hugged her," said Erika Collazo, Mirella's sister.
According to Fort Worth police, Mirella's former boyfriend, 16-year-old Larry Sigala — along with another man — shot and gravely wounded 20-year-old Juan Mejia-Alanis, a male friend of Mirella's, in front of her house in the 4400 block of Merida Avenue in southwest Fort Worth.
The two then drove off with the 15-year-old girl, a South Hills High School sophomore, triggering a statewide Amber Alert.

Mejia-Alanis died Monday morning.
"She was scared because she seen everything that happened," Erika said. "She wanted to be with him; she didn't want him to go to jail."
Sigala was taken into custody at his parents' home on Monday night. Police said they were talking to him and to Mirella to learn more about the violent incident on Sunday evening.

A 16-year-old boy accused in a fatal shooting and a kidnapping
turned himself in Monday night after his former girlfriend was reunited
with her family. The girl and a family friend had been talking
in a car outside her home Sunday evening when the friend was shot in
the head, police said.Larry Sigala, 16, was taken into custody
Monday night at his parents’ home without incident, police said. The

along Seminary Drive. The girl was being questioned by police late
Monday night.

"She was OK," said Erika
Collazo, the girl’s sister. "She was just crying. She didn’t have time
to explain, and we didn’t want to ask too much right away. We’re just
glad she’s home."Erika
Collazo said the family was headed to Sigala’s house at the time
because they had learned he was going to turn himself in, and they
expected him to take Mirella there. The girl’s friend, Juan Mejia
Alanis, 20, died Monday morning at John Peter Smith Hospital from his
injuries, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office. The
incident began Sunday night when Alanis and Mirella Collazo sat in a
car in front of her home in the 4400 block of Merida Avenue in south
Fort Worth, waiting for her sister and her sister’s boyfriend to join
them."We were just going out," Erika Collazo said, when a

After a statewide Amber Alert and nearly 24 hours of searching,
15-year-old Mirella Collazo is back home in Fort Worth. Her
ex-boyfriend and alleged kidnapper, 16-year-old Larry Sigalas, is in
police custody.

"I was with Larry and we decided to split up. He was going to go to his house and I was going to go back to mine," Collazo said.

She says she was walking back home by herself around dinner time when
her family spotted her. Her mother was understandably overjoyed.

"When I seen her, she just broke down in tears, happy to see me," Collazo said.

"We just got so happy cause I mean because we just wanted to know that
she was still here. We thought that he might take her away, like far
where we can't ever see her again," said Erika Collazo, Mirella's
sister.

Mirella Collazo dissapeared Sunday night from her front driveway. She
was waiting in a vehicle with 20-year-old Juan Mejia-Alanis, a friend
of her sister's. Police say Sigala and an accomplice showed up around
7:30 p.m., fatally shot Mejia-Alanis, then abducted Collazo. She says
Sigala misunderstood the situation and reacted out of jealousy because
the two had broken up the night before.

"Larry, he's not a bad person, he didn't mean to kill Juan. It's just that he was mad and he thought something else," she said.

Collazo wants the community to know she's okay and that she's heartbroken over what happened.

"Thanks for worrying about me and I feel really bad for Juan's family. I can't imagine how they feel," she said.
