"Jane Doe" - 4 yo - Deland FL
A 4 year old Deland girl is staying
with a relative instead of her own home, because deputies say her
mother, left her home alone while she went on a cocaine binge. According
to investigators, the child went to a neighbors house at around 5:45
this morning. They say she was in her pajamas, crying hysterically. Deputies
say a neighbor took the little girl inside and calmed her down before
calling 911. When authorities arrived, the child told them her mother
was gone when she woke up this morning. Cops later found the
woman, 39 year old Patricia Reynolds, at a gas station known for drug
activity. During her arrest, deputies say Reynolds became violent and
banged her head against the cage of the patrol car. She then slipped
through her handcuffs and tried getting away. When deputies
caught her, she kept slamming her head against the ground and had to be
taken to the hospital. While she was being treated, deputies say she
told a hospital employee she had used crack cocaine all night long.
Reynolds is charged with child neglect, prisoner escape and resisting and
officer. Deputies say Reynolds boyfriend told them she used cocaine
occasionally, but never put her child in danger before.

A DeLand mother was accused of child neglect after her 4-year-old
daughter was found crying and shivering on a stranger's doorstep early
Saturday.Police said 39-year-old Patricia Reynolds left her
young daughter alone in their apartment overnight while she went on a
crack binge. The girl was found on the steps of another house at
5:45 a.m. wearing pajamas. Police said they got a call from the
homeowner at about 7 a.m. asking them to look into the girl's situation.Officials
said deputies started searching for Reynolds and found her just after 8
a.m. at a gas station. The woman put up a fight, police said, as she
banged her head against the squad car's cage, got out of her handcuffs
and tried to run away. She was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.Neighbors said the accusations came as a shock as they knew Reynolds to be an attentive mother."I
find that to be very strange, for Patty to have left her there alone,"
said the Reynolds' next door neighbor Flavia Brown. "That's out of
character as far as what I've seen so far."The Department of Children and Families brought the girl to another relative, police said.
