TIJUANA — The Baja California attorney general has issued an Amber Alert for a 2-year-old boy who was kidnapped by two men in Tijuana.

An Amber Alert is issued when a child is abducted.

The boy, Jose Manuel Martinez Salcido, is 2 years, 4 months old and 2 1/2 feet tall.

Authorities described him as white with an oval face, light brown
eyes, a large wide nose, large mouth, thin lips and large ears. He was
last seen wearing brown sports pants, a green shirt with a design in
front, brown tennis shoes and a red jacket.

He also wears square-frame glasses and his left eye is slightly off-center.

Authorities said he was kidnapped from a street called
Circunvalacion Popocatépetl in the La Sierra neighborhood about 6:30
p.m. Friday.

One suspect was described as about 35 years old, about 5 feet 7
inches tall and husky with a dark complexion. His accomplice was
described as 16 to 18 years old, thin, about 5 feet 7 inches tall. He
was wearing a white beret-style cap and white sweat shirt.

They drove away in a small, 1980-85-model metallic-blue wagon with California plates, either 5YSH272 or 5Y5H272.

The car had the numeral 12 displayed on the back window.

A California Highway Patrol official said Saturday night that the agency had not yet been notified of the alert.

TIJUANA — A 2-year-old boy kidnapped
on Friday was rescued by state police and returned to his family,
Mexican authorities announced Monday.

José Manuel Martínez Salcido is in good health, said Baja California Attorney
General Rommel Moreno Manjarrez during a news conference. The child was
taken by an 40-year-old woman who worked for his father. The woman was
helped by two men, ages 27 and 21, who demanded a ransom equivalent to
$24,000, Moreno said.

Mexican authorities issued an Amber Alert for the boy on Saturday,
hours after he was taken Friday evening from a home in the La Sierra
neighborhood in the southern half of the city.

He was held at a home in the La Esperanza neighborhood, which
Mexican authorities found after receiving an anonymous tip, Moreno said.
