FREMONT - A Clyde, Ohio man was indicted by a
Sandusky County grand jury on three felonies stemming from the death of
his 2-month-old son last week.

K.C. Goble, 22, was indicted on
two counts of murder - one with the underlying offense of felonious
assault, the other with the underlying offense of child endangering. He
also was indicted on one count of child endangering.

Mr. Goble
has been in the Sandusky County jail since Jan. 12 when his girlfriend
called 911 to report that the couple's infant son, Preston Goble, was
not breathing. The baby was rushed to Bellevue Hospital then flown to
Toledo Children's Hospital where he died Jan. 13.

An autopsy conducted by the Lucas County Coroner's Office determined that young Preston died from blunt head trauma.

KC Goble, a 23-year-old Clyde man accused of killing his infant son, will not stand trial this week as previously scheduled.Goble’s trial has been pushed back to an undetermined date, according to the Sandusky County prosecutor’s office. Goble’s trial was scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Goble entered a plea of not guilty to charges earlier this month after a mental evaluation found no evidence to support a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.

Goble had been watching 2-month-old Preston Goble on Jan. 12 at his Clyde apartment while the baby’s mother slept, according to Clyde police records. Goble woke the mother and told her the baby wasn’t breathing. The mother called 911.

Clyde police officers rushed the baby to Bellevue Hospital where a doctor grew suspicious about injuries he found on the infant. A medical helicopter took Preston to a Toledo hospital where he died a day later, after being removed from life support.

An autopsy performed by Lucas County coroners determined the cause of the baby’s death to be blunt force trauma to the head.

A Sandusky County grand jury indicted Goble on murder and child endangering charges on Jan. 21.

Baby killer gets 15 years to life


A Clyde man will spend at least 15 in prison for killing of his infant son.

KC Goble, 23, was sentenced to 15 years to life on Tuesday in Sandusky County Common Pleas Court for the Jan. 13, 2010 death of 2-month-old Preston Goble.

Goble was sentenced after he pleaded no contest to a charge of murder as a result of felonious assault, court bailiff Jay Bowers said.
Sandusky County assistant prosecutor Beth Tischler said the sentence was mandatory.
"(No) sentence is going to feel right in the death of a 2-month-old," Tischler said.
Goble offered no statements during the sentencing, other than acknowledging he understood what his plea meant. He was taken back to the Sandusky County jail, where he's been for the last 385 days.
He will be given credit for time served, and eligible for parole after serving a minimum of 15 years.
Goble was watching his son on Jan. 12, 2010 as Danielle Myers, the child's mother, slept inside the home, police said.
Goble assaulted Preston and then woke Myers when the infant stopped breathing. Preston was taken to Bellevue Hospital, then flown by medical helicopter to a Toledo hospital where he died the following day.
An autopsy by the Lucas County coroner showed Preston suffered skull fractures and died of blunt-force trauma. The autopsy also showed the infant possibly sustained previous injuries to his ribs before he died, Tischler said.
Myers was in the courtroom with her mother and father when Goble was sentenced.
"She's coping," Tischler said. "She is glad that the court process is behind her."
Goble's mother, Tammee Frankart, said it was a difficult day for the family but they would get through it.
