"Newborn John Doe" - Mother unknown - Junction City KS

Shortly before 5 PM on Saturday Junction City Police received a call
of someone finding the body of a newborn baby boy behind an apartment
complex in the 900 Block of Windwood.

Police said they believe the baby was recently delivered and said the
baby is a white boy who appeared to be full term.

Junction City Police don't know the cause of death yet, but need help
finding the mother of the child.

JUNCTION CITY — Police found the body of a newborn
infant Saturday afternoon in a ravine behind an apartment complex.

The baby's body was discovered about 5 p.m. in the 900 block of
Windwood Drive after officers responded to a call.

According to a news release from Junction City Police Chief Tim
Brown, officers found "what appeared to be a full term Caucasian male
infant who was believed to have recently been delivered."

The cause of death is undetermined, he said. An autopsy is pending.

Police are asking for help in locating the infant's mother.

"Anyone that may have information concerning a female who was
recently pregnant and cannot now account for the whereabouts of the
child" should call the Junction City Police Department at (785) 762-5912

This shovel was found near the site of the newborn baby found in Junction City on March 13.
