A St. Cloud mother has been charged in connection with the death of her
22-month-old son.
Nyachuol Lungdicok Poch, 31, has been charged with second-degree murder.




On April 12, St. Cloud Police were dispatched to Poch's residence at
1538 6th Avenue South and found the boy unresponsive. He was pronounced
dead at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Police said an autopsy determined her son's death was a result of
injuries sustained from blunt force trauma.
When police spoke to Poch, she admitted striking child on several
occasions including prior to the April 12 call when the boy was
unresponsive.
According to the criminal complaint, Poch told police she beat the child
with a shoe because he wouldn't stop crying.
The autopsy also determined that the child had several past injuries.
Poch's bail was set at $1 million. If convicted of second-degree murder,
Poch could face up to 40 years in prison.

Woman sentenced for sons beating death

A St. Cloud woman who pleaded guilty to beating her son to death a year ago was sentenced today to 12 years, six months in prison.
Nyachuol Lungdicok Puoch, 32, previously pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the death of 22-month-old Duach Makuach.

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - A St. Cloud woman who pleaded guilty to fatally beating her young son with a shoe last year was sentenced to 12 years and six months behind bars Thursday.

Nyachuol Lungdicok Poch, 32, was sentenced by Stearns County District Court Judge Kris Davick-Halfen to a term within the terms outlined by a plea deal between prosecutors and attorneys for Puoch.

Puoch was charged with second-degree murder in the death of 22-month-old son Duach Makuach in April 2010.

The criminal complaint said Poch admitted hitting the boy with a shoe because he was crying.
