DONTE DAWSON Jr - 16 Months -(2010) Jacksonville FL

Jacksonville FL ---- A man is facing murder charges following the death of his son last week.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, 28-year-old Donte Lorenzo Dawson Sr. was watching his 16-month-old son in their home on Princeton Square Boulevard last Tuesday. After less than an hour, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue was called.
The victim, 16-month-old Donte Dawson Jr., was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy determined the child died from multiple traumatic injuries that were suspicious in nature.
Dawson spoke with police Friday, initially providing "multiple false accounts" of the events of Tuesday, according to JSO.
Dawson eventually admitted he caused the injuries that killed the boy, and was arrested and charged with second degree murder.
He had recently been released from prison, where he had served a sentence for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Prior to that, he was convicted on drug charges.
