KAYLA HARRIS - 19 yo (Mom of 2) - Bartlett (NE of Memphis) TN

A 26-year-old man is accused of chasing the mother of his children
around a Bartlett house with a knife, burning her with a cigarette and
threatening to rip out stitches from the woman's recent cesarean
section.

Dennis Peter Dickson allegedly pushed the woman while she was holding
their infant, causing her to fall and injuring the child's head, court
documents state.

Dickson, who has two children with the victim -- Kayla S. Harris, 19
-- is charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment and child
neglect/abuse in connection with the case that occurred early Sunday
morning.

Dickson pleaded not guilty and waived his preliminary hearing during a
brief appearance Monday in Bartlett Municipal Court. He was ordered
held to the action of a Shelby County grand jury on a $25,000 bond.

According to police reports, the incident began at about 1 a.m.
Sunday, when the couple was involved in a struggle at the home they
share at 4217 Autumn Hill.

Dickson's brother and sister told police the two were roughhousing
when things got out of control.

Early in the incident, police reports state, Dickson began pushing on
the area of Harris' cesarean-section stitches. The report lists one
child's birthday as April 26.

The victim told police Dickson choked her, kneed her in the stomach
and burned her right cheek with a cigarette.

Harris said she tried to leave, but Dickson blocked her departure,
including breaking her cell phone, contributing to the false
imprisonment charge.

Later, Dickson chased her around the yard with a knife before a
neighbor intervened, ordering him to drop the weapon, later determined
to be a steak knife.

Dickson's brother and sister said Harris banged on the hood of
Dickson's car with a hammer during the altercation.
