Mesa Police are searching for 13-year-old Alyssa J. Cavagnaro,
who they say ran away from home Tuesday evening.
Police say the teen took her mother's vehicle and debit card. The
vehicle, a tan Kia Spectra, has the license plate 979-ERZ.



Police say she is in the company of 19-year-old Gary "Chris" Legault,
who is on probation for a prior conviction of Child Abuse with Sexual Motivation.
Cavagnaro is 5'2" and 115 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. Legault
is 6'1" and 135 lbs., with brown hair and blue eyes.

Mesa Police are searching for a missing
13-year-old girl. Alyssa Cavagnaro ran away from home early Tuesday
morning with 19-year-old Gary Legault, according to investigators.Legault,
who goes by “Chris,” has a prior conviction for Child Abuse with Sexual
Motivation. Police said the case also involved another 13-year-old
girl he was involved with. As part of his probation, he is not supposed
to have any contact with minors, according to investigators.Crystal
Cavagnaro, Alyssa’s mother, said she is worried for her daughter’s
safety.“Your kids are your life. They mean the world to you,”
said Cavagnaro. “Your baby girl shouldn’t go through this.”Crystal
Cavagnaro said she recently discovered Legault was 19-years-old, and
not 16-years-old as she’d been told. She said she forbade her daughter
to see him and the two had been fighting ever since.Tuesday
morning, Crystal Cavagnaro said she woke up to find her car, debit card
and her daughter missing.The pair was last seen in a tan Kia
Spectra with an Arizona license plate reading 979-ERZ.Anyone with
information on their whereabouts is asked to call Mesa police.

A 13-year-old Mesa girl who ran away from home with a convicted sex
offender late Tuesday was located in California Thursday afternoon,
according to officials. Mesa Police Department spokesman Ed
Wessing said Alyssa Cavagnaro and Gary LeGault were involved in a single
vehicle rollover collision on Highway 1 in Monterey, California around 3
p.m. The pair reportedly fled from the scene on foot into a wooded
area. After about an hour of searching, California Highway Patrol
officers were able to locate Cavagnaro and LeGault and they were taken
into custody without incident. Police had asked for the public's
help to locate Cavagnaro, who went missing from her home near Guadalupe
and Extension roads around 10 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators said
the teen stole her mother's vehicle and debit card and left her home
with Legault, who is currently on probation for a prior sex offense with
a minor. Wessing said Cavagnaro and Legault were not injured in
the wreck. They both are being held until they can be transported back
to Arizona.
