"Baby Jane Doe" - 7 Months - Mechanicsville (S of Washington) MD

A 25-year-old St. Mary's County man has been charged with abusing a
seven-month-old girl who was seriously injured and remains hospitalized,
authorities said.

Marcus Corwell Hall, 25, of Mechanicsville, was charged with
first-degree child abuse resulting in severe physical injury, according
to St. Mary's County authorities. Officials would not say whether Hall is related to the baby.

On Aug. 13, authorities said, officials were notified that the baby,
who is from Mechanicsville, had been taken from a local medical facility
to Children's National Medical Center in the District with an "unknown
life threatening condition."

Authorities did not say how the baby was injured.

The county Department of Social Services and the St. Mary's County
Bureau of Criminal Investigations, a partnership between the St. Mary's
County sheriff's office and the Maryland State Police, began an
investigation which remains active.

Additional charges may be filed, they said.
