"Infant John" STORY - 7 Months - Jonesborough (W of Johnson City) TN

An eastern Tennessee woman who overdosed herself and her infant almost
two years ago has been found not guilty by reason of insanity of
aggravated child abuse

Audrey Story, 31, will now undergo another mental evaluation to determine what course of treatment she needs.

Story was indicted in
March 2010 on aggravated child abuse charges. The then-7-month-old boy,
given the overdose in his bottle Nov. 6, 2008, recovered. Story also
took an overdose.

Story underwent a mental
evaluation after Jonesborough police charged her with aggravated child
abuse, and was found incompetent to stand trial.

The boy is now in the custody of his grandparents. Story returns to court Oct. 18.
