Burlington police officers are currently looking for a 16-year-old girl who was last seen about 4 a.m. Sunday.
Jacquelyn “Jackie” Rose Ruiz, of 770-E Boone Station Drive in Burlington, is described as a white female, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 120 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair with blonde bangs.Ruiz was reported missing at 11:30 a.m. Monday.If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Ruiz, please contact Crime Stoppers at 229-7100 or the Burlington Police Department at 229-3500.

Three charged after missing teen found

Burlington police found a teenager who had been reported missing and issued warrants against three people in relation to her disappearance.
Police said Jacquelyn “Jackie” Rose Ruiz was found in an apartment on Trail Two in Burlington after investigators got a tip as to her whereabouts. The 16-year-old was reported missing from her home on Boone Station Drive in Burlington on Monday. Police said she was found about 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Warrants were issued against:
- Whitney Leanne Swift, 17, who is charged with one count of resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
- Steven Shane Jernigan, 21, who is charged with one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
- Brittanny Caitlin Watkins, 19, who is charged with one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The warrants had not been served as of Thursday afternoon.
A police department press release says Ruiz was found staying with Swift, a friend who had been interviewed by investigators “multiple times” and had told them “she had no idea where Ruiz was.” Investigators say Jernigan, identified as Swift’s brother, and Watkins, another friend, helped Swift get Ruiz away from her home.
Investigators had been searching extensively for Ruiz since her family reported her missing. That included sending information to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
