It's been five days since Nancy Melena talked to her family.The 13-year-old girl left for Etiwanda Intermediate School Friday morning, then went to a friend's house in the afternoon. But she never went to soccer practice and never came home.While witnesses and friends said the teenager wanted to run away from home, San Bernardino County sheriff's investigators said they are worried for the Nancy's safety."In conducting our investigation, we did locate witnesses that said she had expressed a desire to runaway," Sheriff's Spokeswoman Arden Wiltshire said. "However, we don't have any indication as to whether she did runaway or if something did happen to her. That's why we need to locate her and make sure she is OK."Nancy is a Hispanic girl, 5-foot-6 inches and 156 pounds. She has straight black hair, brown eyes, a small scar on her left nostril and braces.She was last seen near Baseline Road and East Avenue, wearing a black sweater, blue jeans, and black shoes."Investigators have been working on this since Friday and they've checked all the places she could be," Wiltshire said. "We follow any leads we would get...like sightings or tips from the public."Anyone with information about Nancy's whereabouts can call the Sheriff's Department at 909-477-2800, or after hours at 909-387-8313."We miss her and if anybody knows anything about it let us know, let the police know," said Nancy's father Jorge Melena.Nancy called her father about 10:15 a.m. Friday to see if she could go to a friend's house after school. That was the last time he heard from her, Jorge Melena said.Despite what people have said, Jorge does not believe his daughter wanted to run away."Some friends are saying that she said that, but she never acted like that," Jorge Melena said. "She never said anything like that to our son or anyone else in the family."The Melena's just want to know their daughter is safe."It's been too many days," Jorge Melena said. "I just hope she's with some friends. I just hope so."

Authorities are searching for a 13-year-old Rancho Cucamonga girl missing since Friday who friends say wanted to run away from home.San Bernardino County sheriff's officials said Wednesday that Nancy Melena never showed up for soccer practice after leaving a friend's house.Investigators told The Sun of San Bernardino that friends and witnesses said Melena expressed a desire to run away but they don't know if she did or if something happened to her. The girl's father says he last heard from his daughter late Friday morning when she called to ask if she could go home with her friend after classes at Etiwanda Intermediate School.The family says they just want to know the girl is safe.

Rancho Cucamonga teen still missing

San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies are still looking for a 13-year-old girl who went missing last month.
Nancy Melena, of Rancho Cucamonga, has not been in contact with her family since Sept. 24, according to a news release.
She was last seen near Base Line Road and East Avenue, wearing a black sweater, blue jeans and black shoes. Family members said the teenager attended classes at Etiwanda Intermediate School and then went to a friend's house but never showed up to soccer practice later that night.
Witnesses told officials that Nancy was seen in the Los Angeles area by herself on the Metrolink.
"They said there was no suspicious circumstances, that she seemed to be OK," Sheriff's Detective Albert Ixco said.
Sheriff's have sent that information to the Los Angeles Police Department, who agreed to do an area check for the girl, Ixco said.
Nancy is Latino, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 156 pounds. She has straight black hair, brown eyes, a small scar on her left nostril and braces.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts can call the sheriff's Rancho Cucamonga station at 909-941-1488

The 13-year-old girl who was reported missing last month was reunited with her family Monday night.
Nancy Melena, of Rancho Cucamonga was found about 3 p.m. in Venice at a known safe-haven for runaway teens, according to a San Bernardino County sheriff's news release. Nancy was in good physical condition and was released to her parents by police.
"Santa Monica police responded and did the recovery of the missing juvenile," sheriff's spokeswoman Pat Lowman said. "Her parents were notified and her parents went out there to get her."
On Sunday, sheriff's received information that Nancy had been seen throughout the North Hollywood, Downtown L.A. and Venice areas on Sept. 26, two days after her family reported her missing.
Witnesses told officials that Nancy was seen in the Los Angeles area by herself on the Metrolink.
"They said there was no suspicious circumstances, that she seemed to be OK," Sheriff's Detective Albert Ixco said.
Sheriff's sent that information to the Los Angeles Police Department, who agreed to do an area check for the girl, Ixco said.
