A Sacramento judge has sent a father to prison for 25 years to life after he was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the shaking death of his 6-month-old son. Kevin Harper Jr. was sentenced Friday for the August 2008 death of his son, Jaden Harper. The child died two days after his father had brought him to a hospital with internal injuries. Prosecutors say the boy was hurt by his father shaking him, but Harper's defense attorney had argued that the child suffered from chronic internal bleeding. Jurors acquitted the 27-year-old Harper of second-degree murder in July, but found him guilty of involuntary manslaughter and assault on a child that resulted in death.
