LAYTON, Utah – A Layton mother accused of killing her two children in 2010
has been found incompetent to stand trial.

Sun Cha Warhola allegedly strangled her 8-year-old son and 7-year-old
daughter in Sept. 2010.

She was to appear in court last week for a competency hearing, but her
attorney filed a motion indicated a psychologist had determined that
Warhola remains incompetent to stand trial.

This was her seventh scheduled competency review. She continues to
receive treatment for mental illness at the Utah State Hospital.

This is such a sad story but murder is murder. Seems like a person couldn't be mentally fit if they kill someone anyways, and if you murder your children how would you ever, ever become mentally fit?

Thank you Liberty for updating on this case. I feel so sorry for the childrens' family.

She needs to stand trial for her monstrous acts. She needs to be executed as punishment.

FARMINGTON – The Layton woman accused of strangling her two children on Sept. 8, 2010 is still not competent to stand trial.

Sun Cha Warhola, 48, was scheduled to appear in 2nd District Court on Monday, but her attorney, Edward Brass, filed a motion earlier in the morning to move Warhola’s competency hearing to the fall of 2015.

In his motion, Brass said his client is still incompetent to stand trial, but that there is “a substantial probability that she will be restored to competency in the future.” She has been receiving treatment at the Utah State Hospital since May 2011.

Warhola is charged with two counts of first-degree felony aggravated murder for allegedly strangling her children, James, 8, and Jean, 7, in their Layton home.

Her husband, Kenneth Warhola, came home to find Sun Cha Warhola barricaded inside the son’s room with both children. They were found lying on the bed covered with blankets.

Sun Cha Warhola was found incompetent to stand trial in May 2011 after her attorney argued she was mentally incompetent and had no recollection of the matter.
