Unidentified Body - Lakeland FL

Police found human skeletal remains in a wooded area in Lakeland on Friday afternoon.Police said they were called to investigate a report of foul smell in a wooded area behind Snavely Forest Products at 2420 New Tampa Highway. Responding officers said they found the human remains at about 1:45 p.m. in a fenced-off private property that is not visible from the road. Police said the condition of the body prevented them from determining its sex or age.Police said they are still waiting for the medical examiner's report.

Lakeland, FL -- The human remains that were found in Lakeland have been determined to be the remains of an adult female.The cause of death has not been determined, but police are continuing to identify the victim. They are working with a Pathologist from the University of Florida who will assist in the investigation.Police were called to the wooded area behind Snavely Forest Products on October 29th just before 2 pm, because of the report of a foul smell in the area. The investigation continues.

As we have seen in the past when commercial areas are used as dump sites, the detectives are no doubt going through the list of current and former employees. Perps like the "familiar" when hiding bodies.

Human remains found in field in Lakeland

An off-duty Shelby County Sheriff’s deputy and his friend discovered human remains, including a skull and other bones, during a hunting trip in Lakeland just before dawn Saturday.The remains were scattered in a field near Stewart Road east of Palamino. Sheriff’s Office detectives collected the evidence after being called to the scene and have launched an investigation.The Medical Examiner’s office will attempt to identify the remains. Sheriff’s spokesman Chip Washington said that while it’s difficult to tell, the remains appear to be those of just one person.
