Casey Anthony: WESH explains why case isn’t slam-dunk for state

Casey Anthony’s attorneys might have suffered a setback with witness Laura Buchanan, but WESH-Channel 2’s Bob Kealing explained tonight that a conviction is hardly definite for prosecutors.
Kealing turned to veteran attorney Jeff Deen, who has provided analysis for the station. “Remember we’re talking about murder here,” Deen said. “We’re not talking about just death. We’re talking about intentional acts of murder.”
The trial begins in May. Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.
Kealing repeated the defense’s emphasis on the point that medical examiner Jan Garavaglia did not find evidence of murder. The WESH report featured Dr. Warner Spitz, a defense expert, saying, “There is nothing that I know that puts the lid on this, that tells you that there was a murder here.”
Kealing noted that the defense can ask about then-meter reader Roy Kronk’s “fixation with the area where he discovered Caylee’s remains.”
In a memorable bit of footage, Kealing asked if that was enough to raise doubt about Kronk’s motives.
Deen stammered, then finally said, “No.”
