Casey Anthony: WKMG, Tony Pipitone offer major report at 11 tonight

WKMG-Channel 6 is promoting a major Tony Pipitone report on the Casey Anthony case that will air at 11 tonight.

Stations push their big reports in the February ratings period, and Pipitone will follow the high-rated Thursday lineup on CBS. Expect to see promotional spots during “CSI” and “The Mentalist.”

But here’s how high WKMG General Manager Skip Valet is on the report: “It’s more terrific Tony Pipitone. He’s one of the journalists that consistently breaks new information in the story, and he has more tonight.”

Pipitone this morning dismissed suggestions that he is repackaging old material. “This is information that has not been reported on or provided to other media outlets,” Pipitone said. “It’s information that no one else has.”

That’s a good tease. What is is it?

“We have some information that hasn’t become public about what both sides in the case are asking when they’re questioning witnesses,” Pipitone said, adding that he doesn’t want to say too much before air.

“There’s some stuff in there that gives you a window into how the state and defense will buttress or attack key evidence in the case,” he added. Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee. The trial is scheduled to start in May.

Pipitone says he’s “still trying to get my hands around” the material for the Anthony report. But he promises, “It’s going to air at 11 tonight, come hell or high water.”
