Casey Anthony: WFTV corrects report on Jose Baez

WFTV-Channel 9 on Feb. 2 reported that someone had filed a grievance with the Florida Bar against Casey Anthony’s lead attorney, Jose Baez, for misrepresenting facts to the court.
Tonight, WFTV corrected the Kathi Belich report and quoted a Florida Bar spokesperson.
On its website, the station said the complaint “does not concern misrepresenting facts to the judge in the case against Casey Anthony. Channel 9 had reported the case did concern misrepresenting facts to the judge.”
The Florida Bar spokesperson told WFTV that the complaint against Baez concerns “ethics or misrepresentation.”
WFTV anchor Bob Opsahl read the correction during the 5 p.m. newscast and again at 6. The correction was also on the station’s website. WFTV reported there: “The spokesperson also confirmed Baez had been informed of the complaint filed against him. The Bar refused to say who had filed the complaint.”
Earlier this month, other news organizations highlighted that the Florida Bar complaint was confidential.
The Sentinel’s Anthony Colarossi reported talked to a Florida Bar spokeswoman who described the matter as ”at staff” level. ”That means the Bar is looking into it, asking questions, just looking to see if it has any merit,” Bar spokeswoman Karen Kirksey said. “No probable cause has been found.”
Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee. The trial is scheduled to start in May.
