Jefferson County Sheriff's Department searching for missing 10-year-old
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department is searching for a
10-year-old boy who has been missing from Center Point since Friday
evening, the Sheriff's Department said.
David Strickland was reported missing by his stepfather after the boy
was not where he usually waits for his stepfather in the 2700 block of
6th Street N.E. when he gets off the school bus each afternoon.
The stepfather told authorities his stepson usually gets off the bus
between 3:15 and 3:30 p.m. and is waiting for him on the front porch.
The child was not there yesterday when the stepfather initially got
there around 3:15 p.m. or after the stepfather came back from an errand
he ran, according to Sheriff's Department news release.
The stepfather began looking for his stepson and found out from
children in the area and an adult that David had been seen playing with
other children, according the news release.
The Sheriff's Office was dispatched to investigate a call of a
missing child at 10 p.m. after the stepfather could not find the child,
the release states.
A search was initiated for the boy in the area of a wooded trail the
boy is believed to have taken home Friday from the area of 3000 block of
Wood Circle N.E. where he had been reportedly playing with another
child.
Deputies returned to the area today and are actively searching for the boy.
